Historia
One morning, a former CIA agent is shot to death in the street. That night, an army vet is gunned down in his doorway. The next day, John Wells gets a phone call. Come to Langley. Now. The victims were part of an interrogation team that operated out of a secret base in Poland called the Midnight House, where they worked over the toughest jihadis, extracting information by any means necessary. Now Wells must find out who is killing them. Islamic terrorists are the likeliest suspects, and Wells is uniquely qualified to go undercover and find them.

I’m beginning to wonder just how much of these novels is fiction and how much is fact. I just hope that our country has not lowered itself to these levels
What happened to our being the bastion of righteousness and moral goodness in a world of pain and darkness
These novels are enjoyable and structured to make you think and feel the pain of the third world countries

Great historical fiction
Revisado: 09-30-22
At the beginning I was a little worried that I had chosen a dud. But very soon became completely engrossed in this story. It was so believable and colorful and true to that period in our history. Sometimes it is hard to understand how we managed to survive it. Mr Bidwell is so like the capitalists of today and the other characters simply following his lead. One of the best novels out of the many I have read.

Historia
There’s more to the swamplands than meets the teeth. In this supernatural tale of magic and mysticism, Henry Lemarchand grew up in Philadelphia knowing very little of his family—his father disappeared when he was young, leaving behind only a strange pouch of animal teeth. When he is sent to the Louisiana bayou to spend the summer with his eccentric uncle and cousin in their decaying ancestral mansion, Henry learns about his family’s supernatural legacy.

Juvenile book
Revisado: 01-02-20
Story is interesting but should be directed toward a juvenile audience. Suspect even teens might enjoy it but not adults
Reminds me of Riordan novels or at least probably influenced by him

Historia
Somewhere in Germany is the sequel to the acclaimed Nowhere in Africa, which was turned into the Oscar-winning film of the same name. This novel traces the return of the Redlich family to Germany after their nine-year exile in Kenya during World War II. In Africa, Walter had longed for his homeland and dreamed of rebuilding his life as a lawyer, yet ultimately he and his family - wife Jettel, daughter Regina, and baby Max - realize that Germany seems as exotic and unwelcoming to them in 1947 as Kenya had seemed in 1938.

Spared from direct horror?
Revisado: 10-06-19
This book was a recounting of a family racked by guilt who faced that guilt by returning to Germany to face the monster that caused so much pain called the Holocaust. Even though they suffered by facing the enemy, they could never quite come to grips with that reality
That is what I got from this magnificent book
Could never quite imagine why a Jewish father would expose his family voluntarily to the antisemitism of Germany voluntarily. It seems a kind of punishment for surviving when so many did not

Historia
Without John C. Houbolt, a mid-level engineer at NASA, Apollo 11 would never have made it to the moon. Top NASA engineers on the project, including Werner Von Braun, strongly advocated for a single, huge spacecraft to travel to the moon, land, and return to Earth. It's the scenario used in 1950s cartoons and horror movies about traveling to outer space. Houbolt had another idea: Lunar Orbit Rendezvous. LOR would link two spacecraft in orbit while the crafts were travelling at 3,600 miles an hour around the moon. His plan was ridiculed and considered unthinkable.

MAX MIXTURE OF SCIFI/FANTASY
Revisado: 02-07-14
What made the experience of listening to Adamar the most enjoyable?
Great escapest story. The Dragon spaceship? A living, ship kind of like I have seen in other fantasy/scifi novels. Just wish the Dragon had not been slain, or has it? This book kept my attention, which most books cant do. Another thing, it gets better the more you listen
What did you like best about this story?
The action scenes were vivid and well defined. Also, the story rolls along in a logical and well thought out manner. The ending was a little predictable, but it is leading into the next episode. thought it was more entertaining than John Carter of Mars and really better written
What three words best describe Lee Strayer’s voice?
normal, too soothing
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
no, it just was escapist entertainment, which is what I got it for
