Good story overall

The story and characters are good - except for Brad. An absolutely despicable, mean, nasty, entitled, spoiled brat. It a little incredible that they had the perfect marriage for 20 years and all of a sudden he turns into a horrible person. Signs were there. But a decent listen over all. Narration too.

Hire a narrator!!

Why do authors insist on narrating their own books?! Brett inserts a weird laugh in the middle of a sentence where’s there’s nothing amusing at all and it was very annoying and distracting. Even when she’s not doing that her narration was awful. If there’s anything to be gained from this book for me it will have to be from the printed version.

Hire an actor for God’s sake! The narration was hard to listen to. Too bad, because there’s a lot of useful information here.

Pathetic main character

The main character was so stupid and pathetic - making ridiculous decisions right and left. I got about half way through and stopped because I didn’t care enough about any of these idiots to continue.
Bad writing, bad story line, bad characters. Narration wasn’t great either.

This was the worst. The characters are so dislikable every single one of them. And the story line is ridiculous - completely unbelievable. The narration is also awful. The male narrator sounds like he’s whispering most of the time. And Brittany Presley - omg why do people like her narration?? She’s the absolute worst - I find her voice so annoying. I got through 5 hours of this and realized I didn’t care what happened to any of these people and gave up.

Awful writing. Very predictable story line and the narration was terrible - slow, overly pronounced words, sounded like the narrator had a thick tongue.

These two men are so stupid!

Honestly the book was difficult to get through. How could that stupid idiot of a son be so gullible?! And the father too?! It’s unbelievable. The narrator was excellent - it was the only reason I finished.

If you can get past the fact that no one in their right mind would let a 5 year old walk home from school alone…..it’s not a bad story. Some of the narrators are annoying and some are good. Over all worth a credit.

Frustratingly weak female character!

Hard to get through even the first few chapters because of the ridiculous walking on egg shells that Beth does with her husband. That guy needs some training! Self centered, bullying moron! I know there are women like but it’s still hard to listen to. Other than that which continued forever the story was entertaining and the narrator was good.

Why all the good reviews?

I don’t understand all the great reviews. This book was so bad. The characters behaved so stupidly that I didn’t care what happened to any of them. The storyline line seemed fake and unbelievable with everyone making absurd choices right and left. The narration was average at best but the worst was the narrator for Ruth. Overly dramatic to say the least. Hard to finish - almost couldn’t.
