Classic text! Great in audio.
Revisado: 07-24-18
I read this book years ago in seminary. My old copy still has coffee stains on the pages. I found it on audio and listened on my commute to the church every day. Still relevant... and accurate. The narrate read at a great pace. What a voice! I will listen again.

Historia
Journeys that begin in brokenness rarely follow a straight road to healing. There are twists and turns - and setbacks - on the path of repentance. Night Driving tells the story of a pastor and seminary professor whose moral failures destroyed his marriage and career, left his life in ruins, and sent him spiraling into a decade-long struggle against God. Forced to fight the demons of his past in the cab of the semi-truck he drove at night through the Texas oil fields, Chad Bird slowly began to limp toward grace and healing.

Amazing story of loss and forgiveness!!
Revisado: 11-07-17
Chad Bird tells his story. He pulls no punches. Chad made mistakes and then owns those mistakes on the path to forgiveness. I lost myself in the audio version. So, so good. I cried, I smiled, and I thought. Wow. What a book! Listen to this book. Then, listen again! Thank you, Chad.

Historia
"Like any other life-sustaining resource," says Marilyn McEntyre, "language can be depleted, polluted, contaminated, eroded, and filled with artificial stimulants." Today more than ever, language needs to be rescued and restored. Drawing on a wide range of sources, both critical and literary, Caring for Words in a Culture of Lies is an engaging address to everyone concerned with preserving the vitality and precision of the spoken and written word.

Wonderful Listen, Tough Read
Revisado: 05-12-17
Would you consider the audio edition of Caring for Words in a Culture of Lies to be better than the print version?
Yes. I like books from Eerdmans. Friends recommended Caring for Words in a Culture of Lies. I tried to read it... twice. Tough sledding. I could not make it through. The audio version popped up a few days ago, and I gave it a try. I loved it.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Caring for Words in a Culture of Lies?
For me, the pleasant experience of listening was the most memorable.
Have you listened to any of Jessica Schell’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Living into Community: Cultivating Practices That Sustain Us. Very similar.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Not really a "moving" book. Lots of thoughtful moments.
Any additional comments?
The narrator did a great job.

Finding God in surprising places.
What did you like best about this story?
The author's candour and vulnerability.
Which character – as performed by Trevor Thompson – was your favorite?
The book did not have "characters." The story is told in the first person from the perspective of the author.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. In the car.
Any additional comments?
Trevor Thompson did a nice job of capturing the emotion of the different stories. Wonderful to listen to. I have long thought Eerdmans should do audiobooks. I am so excited!
