Just what you'd expect from the current crop of millennial, writers and Pseudo philosophers. i made it through the entire series hoping it would go from mediocre to something good. that didn't happen.

spent to much time working on the joke and not enough working on the story or the characters. once the humor started to get redundant, there wasn't much to keep you reading.

Couldn't finish it

started it because the world and magic system sounded interesting but, that turned out to be such a minor part of the story as to almost not be there. Vast majority of the story was the interactions between two.... emotionally challenged people. so much time in this first book was spent tiptoeing around the two main characters issues that it made for an extremely cringe and virtue signal ridden the story.

alot wrong with the story but the one thing that irritated me the most is the constant justifying of the MC's evil. The twisted set of morals the mc displays is disturbing.

the narration is pretty good if a little over dramatized at times.

Lazy plot development. lazy character development. predictable plot hooks. overall, there was just a huge amount of the author writing characters doing dumb stuff to force moral dilemma's and it all felt so contrived. in short, mid.

Lazy, hamfisted plot development. The plot is just there for the author to get from one fight scene to the next. the moral dilemmas that the author presents are not actually a moral dilemma or have such a contrived feeling to make it all feel hollow. finally the whole story world is broken. it is an empire that encompasses trillions of people and it's protected by conscripts that number in maybe tens of thousands. basically the book is all about the fight scene. The narration is by far the best part of this whole book and it's the only thing that really makes this look worth the listen.

MC is evil and the author keeps trying to present him as a hero. the author has a real problem with morality and thus, what makes a hero. Author also seems to have a problem with drama. it seems that all the drama is just a cookie cutter set of scenarios that the author slaps together to try and create a sequence of a story that they believe will be dramatic. overall the focus of the author is saved for the fight scene and it show in the lack of well thought out story. sad end to a promising start.
