Historia
Setting the stage for her appearance in Life Is Strange: True Colors, this official Steph Gingrich novel sheds light on the Drugstore Makeup years and the story of how Steph crash-landed in Haven Springs, Colorado. Steph Gingrich has finally run out of couches to surf. Now she’s back at her dad’s place in Seattle to figure out what she wants to do with the rest of her life. When running an RPG session for her local gamer café, Steph meets Izzie. Izzie is electric: a punk, a girl who likes girls, and a hella good guitarist.

Solid Life is Strange story
Revisado: 03-31-23
I really like this as a prequel to Life is Strange: True Colors, and especially because it can be read before or after that without either spoiling anything.
Katy Bentz does a great job with character emotions, and while I think she started out with a few unnecessary pauses (which sounded like the sort of pauses I would expect an editor to remove, so the voice actor can breath!), things smoothed out after the beginning. Hearing the voice actor from the game read the story was a real treat!

If you’re a fan of the game Alice is Missing, or teen ya mystery/thrillers in general, this is 100% worth checking out.

Historia
Verity Jane, gifted app whisperer, takes a job as the beta tester for a new product: a digital assistant, accessed through a pair of ordinary-looking glasses. "Eunice", the disarmingly human AI in the glasses, manifests a face, a fragmentary past, and a canny grasp of combat strategy. Realizing that her cryptic new employers don’t yet know how powerful and valuable Eunice is, Verity instinctively decides that it’s best they don’t.

Solid sequel
Revisado: 01-25-23
There are some low star reviews by readers who claim the black woman on the cover is “only in it briefly” and is thus pandering (neither of those things are true), and others mad because in an alternate timeline the 2016 American election went the other way and they think Hilary Clinton as a “heroic” figure is laughable (this is mostly background detail, and explicitly doesn’t somehow make the whole timeline better—the entire novel is about solving at least one big crisis this change may have caused, even).
If you like fascist states, you won’t like this novel. But it isn’t about democrats or republicans in America, and if you want your cyberpunk to be apolitical, I have some bad news for you…
This is cyberpunk in its finest form.

Historia
New girl Rachel Chavez turns to horror movies for comfort, preferring stabby serial killers and homicidal dolls to the bored rich kids of Manhattan Prep...and to certain memories she’d preferred to keep buried. Then Rachel is recruited by the Mary Shelley Club, a mysterious society of students who orchestrate Fear Tests, elaborate pranks inspired by urban legends and movie tropes. At first, Rachel embraces the power that comes with reckless pranking. But as the Fear Tests escalate, the competition turns deadly, and it’s clear Rachel is playing a game she can’t afford to lose.

Solid YA slasher-thriller; interesting twist on what makes a Final Girl

I think this is one of my recent favorites; if you’re a fan of Scream, the genre in general, or the Good Girl’s Guide to Murder books, this will probably hit the spot!
