Historia
This course addresses some of the eternal questions that man has grappled with since the beginning of time. What is good? What is bad? Why is justice important? Why is it better to be good and just than it is to be bad and unjust? Most human beings have the faculty to discern between right and wrong, good and bad behavior, and to make judgments over what is just and what is unjust. But why are ethics important to us?

Surprisingly Good
- De J. Maxwell en 11-02-09
Clear, compelling and unbiased
Revisado: 04-29-18
I bought this knowing The Modern Scholar brand but not the author. As an atheist myself, I was worried when he stated which side of the argument about God's existence he fell on, and I was even more worried after I found a book that he authored which seems to be a defense of theism.
I'm glad to report that none of that matters here as he was surprisingly unbiased about the presentation of the subject in spite of that caveat. Furthermore, the way he approaches the subject was very clear and compelling, and he shows great passion about it, which is quite contagious. Even though his voice seemed monotone at first, it grew on me.
All in all, it is now one of those audiobooks that I go back to every so often. It must be my 4th listen by now and it's always a joy.

Praised for a very engaging writing style, comprehensive coverage of key research, and strong pedagogical features, Ciccarelli focuses on getting students to actually listen to their textbook. Using the recommended APA undergraduate psychology learning outcomes, the author establishes clear learning objectives for students and ties the text assessment to these objectives.

Good content, bad form
Revisado: 01-13-10
The content is very interesting but getting through it can be rather painful. This is the worst narration that I've ever stumbled upon in an audiobook which is unacceptable for a book this expensive (the most expensive in its category at the time of buying). It's read too fast with no regard for the listener learning, which is odd in a book about psychology that covers learning.
I was very disappointed when I first bought it but after listening to it multiple times, I've come to feel satisfied with the content, hence the 3 stars.

Simply the best audiobook I heard on the subject. Very complete, concise and updated to the latest findings. May be hard to follow at the last chapters for a layman like me but with repeated listening I truly learnt a lot from this.

Too dull
Revisado: 06-19-09
It was a disappointment for me, although I think that your satisfaction might depend on your expectations. I was expecting this to be centered on the philosophical and mathematical problem of infinity but the bulk of it is about the people involved. There was still some interesting material for me but it was just too few and buried too deep within all the "filler" (for me of course, you might find the rest interesting). I had to force myself not to give up on it many times so it wasn't a pleasant experience.

Everyone has their own inner philosopher - a voice within that asks, oh so insistently, philosophical questions. Everyone wants to know what the ultimate nature of the world is, what the self is, whether we have free will, how our minds relate to our bodies, whether we can really know anything, where ethical truth comes from, what the meaning of life is, and whether or not there is a God.

This is a great book for everyone with an interest in philosophy. I've read many books about many subjects in philosophy and one thing that usually made me give up on them was the fact that most of them are books of history of philosophy. This book was exactly what I was looking for, it tackles the questions themselves and the history, names and quotes are only there to provide the references. It's very well written and narrated, I never had trouble understanding it and I don't even speak English natively, it's never dull, the concepts flow very well and I learned a lot from it.
