This had a lot of interesting information, but how it was presented and the complexity/confusion/seeking contradictions of the material made it hard to follow. Especially while driving and listening to the audio book. This might have been better if I had physically read to and could go back and forth to check my facts.

So I enjoyed this, but in my opinion it is better for kids. I mean, it's a kid book so that makes sense, but it's kind of on the border between books that are only for kids and books that are for kids but adults can also enjoy them. And I really didn't like how whiney the narrator made Meg's voice, it got annoying pretty quickly. Most of the other voices were pretty great though. All in all, it was good, but I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as I did when I was a kid. But I can't really dock stars for that because that's it's intent lol. So for what it is, four stars.

I absolutely loved this. It's odd and quirky and imagine and just different. Nice change of pace, fun to listen to, and I love Neil Gaiman's narration style.

This was a great lecture series if you're interested in the general concepts of learning, starting from when we are born all the way through old age. Some of the information I already knew, but a large portion of it was new to me, especially concerning particular studies. Dr. Pasupathi has a wonderful voice to listen to, she's very precise in how she words and explains concepts, and she has no problem saying when we just don't know something yet. Those were the parts I actually found most fascinating, because we are always told what we "know", but you don't necessarily hear about the shortcomings of those theories or the things we can't even begin to figure out how to test yet. My favorite lectures were definitely the last few. Those dealt with types of intelligence, learning styles, IQ, and all sorts of concepts you hear thrown around in daily life. Pasupathi breaks these down into where the ideas came from, how they have been used or misconstrued, and whether there is any merit or use for them. She did this with all of her lectures, but the last few were more interesting to me because they can be applied to everyday life. If you like psychology, or are particularly interested in how different people of all ages learn, then give this a shot!

Props to the lecturer - he made this course so accessible, you definitely don't need to know much about physics or astronomy beforehand to understand what he's saying. He's very obviously fascinated by what he does, and that makes the course that much more engaging. I didn't really know what to expect from this course, but to summarize, I basically learned exactly what exoplanets are, how we detect them, the pitfalls of our current technology, and hopes for the future. It was a wonderful set of lectures and it has peaked my curiosity about astronomy even more.

My one note is that the lecturer's voice is ridiculously smooth and calm. It's very soothing to listen to. On the downside, sometimes I spent more time listening to his voice than what he was saying haha his voice would be nice to fall asleep to! Loved this though, highly recommend if you're an astronomy fan.

This was a really fun book. It's very whimsical and listening to Mindy narrate (I got the audiobook) was a ton of fun and added depth to the writing. It was all worth reading if only for the eulogy for Mindy's future funeral at the end written and narrated by Michael Schur. I was laughing hysterically for this part, although I must admit I laughed during much of this book, but this particular part was absolutely hilarious to me. The part that I related to the most was closer to the end when she talks about dating men v boys. She talks about the merits of both, but how she is at a point in her life where she wants to date men, not boys and I was like... holy crap Mindy. This is exactly how I feel but have never been able to articulate it quite the way she does. Gotta love Mindy haha it's a very relatable read and if you like Mindy you might want to give this book a shot.

This has to be one of my favorite memoirs I've ever read. I listened to the audiobook, with Cary narrating and many of the other people involved joining in to narrate their own points of view. Cary does some great impressions haha The way Cary wrote this was so warm and loving and you can really feel how much every single person involved cared for the story and each other. It was so heartwarming to read. There were more than a few instances where I laughed out loud, literally busting a rib. There wasn't a single part of this book that I didn't love. And listening to Cary's sexy voice narrating it was just icing on the cake ;) hahaha If you love The Princess Bride you will love this book.

I really like the Percy Jackson books in general. It's a cute storyline, creative, very fun to read even though it's technically for kids. However, I think in my case I prefer actually reading these books to listening to them. The narrator was great about making different voices for different characters, but I can't say I liked all the voices... Now, this could be a completely different story for someone else, and I think kids especially would really like this because it really brings the story to life just like when a parent reads their kid a story with funny voices. For me, I just prefer reading it myself. Still great though!

I actually like the movie better. It's kind of slow moving and Tristan is kind of an idiot for most of the first half. The movie was more whimsical and funny and sweet and just in general amazing. That's not to say this book wasn't good, and I liked how Gaiman narrated it in the audiobook version, but I actually liked the storyline in the movie better. I read the book after the movie, which might have something to do with my more considerable love for it as compared to the book, but I thought the characters in the movie were fantastic. Tristan was more endearing and in general I thought the characters had more depth than in the book. Don't get me wrong, the book is good, and if you like Gaiman then you will probably like it. Definitely not for young kids, despite what you might assume from the innocent sounding title lol. If you like adult fairy tales then give it a go.
