I had high hopes for this book. I’ve read several books about the Ripper and hoped this would be a good addition. The first3 or 4 chapters were completely devoted to give a detailed description of who was who and how they were related and very little else. I stopped listening and will pick it up at another time, I think. Wish there had been something to catch my ears to make me want to continue.

Another winner!!

Once again, Susan May has written a great series guaranteed to keep you wanting more. Her stories and eerie enough to keep you totally involved with the characters and plots and make you think “what if?” I loved reading the prequel to The Troubles Keeper. Gives you a little background of Rorie Fines “awakening”. All the stories in this volume were marvelous listens. I’m afraid that if I mention each and every story in this book, I’d give way too many spoilers. Suffice it to say....yes....it’s a definite need to read! Open it up and fall right in!

How many of us wish we could have a do over? This book gives you a glimpse of what could happen when you get that wish. Well thought out. Made me really get involved with what was happening... maybe this time...

My real estate broker commented on this book on Facebook and I was hooked!! This book held my interest from the first sentence to the last. I listen on Audible on my way to work and I found myself volunteering to go to the store or taking the long way home to get a few more minutes of listening time!! I love listening to books written about the low country. I can walk down those streets and see the buildings, feel the sunshine(or in this case, the darkness) and fall into the story. Bah I Turpin did a fabulous job narrating this tale of vampires and southern belles! So, Bless your hearts... keep it up! It left things open for a sequel... any chance of that???

The best short stories ever!!

I’m not usually one to read short stories. I more the one to read a book with one story line and totally get absorbed in it. However...this short story collection was wonderful. Susan has a way to twist and turn words and thoughts into wonderful flights of fancy. I also loved her commentary, her Imagination Vault, at the end of each story. It gives some insight into the inspiration for each tale and kind of makes you go “hmmmm”. Her narrator, Hollis McCarthy has just the right inflections in her reading to catch and hold your attention and make every story a great experience. Hurray Susan... you’ve done it again!

Pack up all my cares and woes....

Wow...can you imagine someone who can take your troubles away? Fabulous premise. Rorie was just your regular guy with a twist. I love the way Susan wove all the characters together so you felt like you knew them...and really wanted the best for them. The twists and turns, and there are several, kept me guessing how would it all work out throughout the book....bravo Susan!!! Awesome story! I definitely recommend this one.

This is the first book by Susan that I’ve had the pleasure to listen to on Audible. It caught my interest right away. Great story line. I listen to Audible on my 45 minute commute every day and this was one book that I wished I had a longer commute!! I even went out to my car at lunch to get just a few more minutes in.
Susan’s writing style is easy to listen to and the narrator did a great job to really bring the characters to life! Bravo!! I’m hooked. Looking forward to my book!

What happened to the narrator???

Would you listen to Stone of Tears again? Why?

I had trouble getting into this second book in the series. The narrator was painful to listen to....I thought, at first, that I had purchased the wrong book! Bring back the narrator from th first book!!! Please....

How did the narrator detract from the book?

His reading and inflection made it very hard to listen to. I am usually totally immersed in a Terry Goodkind book...but I had to stop...

It’s hard listening to a series when they change the narrator back and forth. You get used to hearing each character with a certain voice and when the narrator is changes it is hard to follow. I will try another one in the series but with the original narrator.

What did you like best about this story?

The narration really made you get involved with the characters from the get go! His voice was able to change the very feel of the story. I love Terry Goodkind, and have read many of his books...and Look forward to this series. It makes my commute dissolve into his world!
