Historia
When you kick over a rock, you never know what's going to crawl out. Alex Velesky is about to discover that the hard way. He's stolen records from the Swiss bank that employs him, thinking that he'll uncover a criminal conspiracy. But he soon finds that he's tapped into the mother lode of corruption. Before he knows it, he's being hunted by everyone from the Russian mafia to the CIA. Court Gentry and his erstwhile lover, Zoya Zakharova, find themselves on opposites poles when it comes to Velesky. They both want him, but for different reasons.

The Gray Man is an idiot
Revisado: 03-14-25
I’m not sure why throughout all these 12 books the Gray Man is referenced as the best there is. He is an idiot most of the time but in this book he has done it for me. The story is ok but the actions awful. The Russian assassin throughs a grenade out of his car at high speeds and it lands inside Gray Man’s car through sunroof? Are you kidding me? And why is his ass is kicked left and right? My last Gray Man book. I’m done just as I was done with Reacher on book 12.

Historia
The year is 1977, and America is finally getting over the nightmares of Watergate and Vietnam and the national hangover that was the 1960s. But not everyone is ready to let it go. Not aging comedian Koo Davis, friend to generals and presidents and veteran of countless USO tours to buck up American troops in the field. And not the five remaining members of the self-proclaimed People’s Revolutionary Army, who’ve decided that kidnapping Koo Davis would be the perfect way to bring their cause back to life....

What a surprise
Revisado: 12-28-24
Only Donald E Westlake would come up with a story like this and make it enjoyable. A master unlike anyone else. And the performance was out of this world.

Historia
In Eyes of Prey, Bekker, an insane pathologist who experiments with his patients’ pain thresholds, is finally brought down by an unrelenting Lucas Davenport, who brutally maims the doctor’s beautiful face but leaves him alive. “You should have killed me,” were Bekker’s parting and prophetic words.
In this sequel to Eyes of Prey, Bekker endures the indignities and horrors of imprisonment, taking comfort in the fact that it is only a matter of time before he will make Lucas Davenport pay.

Lazy storytelling
Revisado: 09-10-24
This book was pretty much a wasted ink, paper and money (in my case hours of listening). The story is basically could have ended in the previous book. Nothing much to talk about.

Historia
The “Prey” novels by Pulitzer prize-winning journalist John Sandford consistently make the best-seller lists, but they are not for the faint of heart. Featuring Minneapolis Lieutenant Lucas Davenport, these thrillers are raw, graphic, and impossible to put down. In Eyes of Prey, a depressed and unfocused Davenport takes on a macabre case, tracking down a serial killer who maims the eyes of his victims after he has murdered them.

Not bad but sometimes sickening
Revisado: 09-02-24
The baddie guy got away easy because he really pissed me off in some scenes. Overall not bad. The protagonist really bugs me with his weak and open minded attitude towards women. Sometimes he is a jerk and sometimes he is a romantic. As I said, not bad.

Historia
A former Delta Force commander, Brad Taylor proves with this breathtaking debut thriller that Vince Flynn and Brad Thor have company. A collection of top operatives, the Taskforce was commissioned by the highest levels of government, kept secret from the media and even Congress. The best of the Taskforce bunch, Pike Logan knows the greatest threat to American security is one or two idealogues. Unfortunately for them, they’ve just crossed Pike’s path.

Historia
Al Engel had worked his way up to being Nick Rovito’s right-hand man, near the top of the syndicate. And this was a delicate job that Rovito had given him: retrieving a very important jacket, loaded with heroin, from the fresh grave of the drug mule who was accidentally buried wearing it. There was just one problem (at least - just one to begin with): It turned out the grave was empty. Suddenly Engel was the one finding himself “in deep”.

Love this guy’s writing.
Revisado: 05-18-24
Westlake writes like no other. His stories have such detailed criminal activities or dark humor that you cannot compare them to any other author’s work. He also writes as Richard Stark and those are also classic hard boiled crime fictions.

When he's not carrying out heists with his friend Parker, Alan Grofield runs a small theater in Indiana. But putting on shows costs money and jobs have been thin lately, so Grofield agrees to hear Andrew Myers' plan to knock over a brewery in upstate New York. Unfortunately, the plan is insane, so Grofield walks out. Myers isn't a man you walk out on, and his retribution is an act of unforgivable brutality.

Bad narrative
Revisado: 04-12-24
I love Richard Stark books especially Parker but I thought to listen to the Grofield books here since I wasn’t sure they would be any good and I was instantly a fan. Until this last book that ruined it for me. I am sorry to be so harsh since the narrator’s performance is his job and I hate causing anyone his job but for God’s sake I couldn’t listen to it. I will buy the book and read it.

Historia
Private eye Mike Hammer is no stranger to murder, but this time he has two to untangle - the killing of the Captain, a legless, homeless panhandler, dismissed by the police as minor, and the slaying of gambling kingpin Marty Wellman, whose lady friend, Helen Venn, turns to the P.I. for help when the Mob fingers her for the next kill. Seems the new kingpin, Carmen Rich - with whom Hammer has a violent history - thinks Helen made off with ten mil in skim money courtesy of her late lover, or anyway, so Rich claims.

Revisado: 02-08-24
The story is very weak. You know what is going on and it takes no genius to know who is backstabbing who but it’s Mike Hammer and Stacey Keach is there to play the role and played the music too. How cool is that?

Too far from the characters we know
Revisado: 06-27-23
This story is just using the names of the characters we know but trying to put a twist just like everything else these days. Watson was a great friend to Holmes but here he wants to kill him and sounds like he truly hates him. Moriarity sounds more like an honest guy than Holmes. I’m giving this one up as I don’t like people twisting other people’s writings and call it creative.
Come up with your own story and characters. Don’t ruin the lovable characters that others worked hard to create. Be original.
