Ridiculous!! Disappointed!!!!
Revisado: 08-20-20
Agree with many of the other negative reviews. Unrealistic supernatural theme and over-the-top. Have been a fan of Burke and the Robicheaux series since the beginning. This book is clearly the worst in the series. It seems as though Burke is running out of good plot themes for the Robicheaux character. As always, Will Patton’s narration is stellar. However, that being said, cannot recommend this book.

Poorly Written, Poorly Narrated
Revisado: 08-10-20
I took a chance on this book because another review gave it five stars. I could not make it through Chapter 4. Author needs to do a lot more research on weapons and tactics before writing a book like this. This is more of a Christian themed book, which is okay. However. I was unaware of this as the summary doesn’t portray the underlying theme of the book. The narrator needs to change voice inflections. Hard to follow characters when he’s using the same voice tone.

CAPTIVATING! Couldn't stop listening!
Revisado: 05-31-17
If you could sum up The Doll Maker in three words, what would they be?
Intriguing; unsettling; Riveting
Who was your favorite character and why?
Bryne. His character had moments of vulnerability, but yet was tough, and driven to solve the case and its connections to crimes from years past.
Which scene was your favorite?
The second crime scene because the doll showed up in this scene and set the premise for the remainder of the book.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The struggle and agony that Jessica felt in not being able to rescue her daughter.
Any additional comments?
This was our introduction to this author and we were riveted from the start. Love a plot that develops, but keeps you guessing until nearly the end. Scott Brick, as always is an awesome narrator.
