Also known as this romance novelist’s number one nemesis. The man is legendary for his mighty pen and his even mightier scowl. I tried to work together with the cocky thriller writer once upon a time, but the two of us are like vodka and good decisions. We don’t play well together.

Characters Need Some Work

I’m a fan of the author, but this story line didn’t grab me like her previous work. Character development was lacking and the story felt a bit forced. I love how she incorporates smart women into her stories, but Rue’s intelligence came off as an afterthought. I think her attempt at portraying someone with lower emotional intelligence fell flat. Still a decent quick read, but not something I would rave about.

There are too many things wrong with this book to list. Everything about it was ridiculous. I was tempted to give up so many times. Honestly I should be congratulated for being able to finish it. The narrators were fine, but I felt bad that they had to read it.
