After their recent adventures in Transylvania, Russell and Holmes look forward to spending time with Holmes' son, the famous artist Damian Adler, and his family. But when they arrive at Damian’s house, they discover that the Adlers have fled from a mysterious threat. In Damian’s studio, she discovers four crates packed with memorabilia related to Holmes’ grand-uncle, the artist Horace Vernet.

The change in narrators
Revisado: 10-08-24
The story is as good as ever; I respectfully request that Ms Scanlon listen to the scope of Ms Sterlin's work before recording additional books. She has changed Russell's voice-more hesitant, more petulant, weaker. She has changed Holmes' voice-more shrill, more pompous, more unlikeable. She has removed the years of living in France from Damien's voice. This was difficult to
listen to and did nothing to honor Ms Sterlin's memory and legacy of excellence.

N. T. Wright—widely regarded as the most influential commentator and interpreter of Paul—deftly unpacks this dense and sometimes elusive letter, detailing Paul's arguments and showing how it illuminates the Gospel from the promises to Abraham through the visions of Revelation. Wright takes a deep dive into Romans 8, showing how it illuminates so much else that God reveals in Scripture: God the Father, Christology, and the Spirit; Jesus' Messiahship, cross, resurrection, and ascension; salvation, redemption, and adoption; suffering and glory; holiness and hope.

The Challenge of Romans
Revisado: 11-26-23
I deeply love that Bishop Tom continually challenges complacent acceptance of "what we've always supposed" about any and all of the Books & Letters of the New Testament.
This is quite a thorough response to John Piper's attempts to devalue & denigrate Bishop Tom's scholarship
& study.

Challenge to NT Wright?!
Revisado: 11-22-23
I have listened to a great deal of Bishop Wright's work & thought I should listen to a supposed scholarly challenge to that work.
While John Piper says repeatedly in his Introduction that he had no need to "score debate points", that seems to be exactly what he is trying to do.
Most of his pontification not only misrepresents what I have understood from Bishop Wright's perspectives, it seems as though Mr Piper has either not read Wright's works or has merely skimmed them.
This was disappointing & very much read like an envious colleague.

Historia
While much of church planting today is approached as an innovative new effort, church leaders can take comfort in the truth that they are simply stewards of what the faithful church has been doing for millennia. By rediscovering the foundations of our heritage, we are able to build healthier, more faithful, and more effective churches. At the same time, the act of planting new churches can breathe new life into these ancient traditions as they are applied to a variety of cultural contexts.

My only cringe moment was when Canon Alger mispronounced the word "chutzpah".

Historia
In the midst of life's challenges, so often our faith feels small and weak. In this book one of the world's premier Bible teachers, N. T. Wright, reminds us that what matters is not so much our faith itself as Who our faith is in. Faith, says Wright, is like a window. The point is not for part of the wall to be made of glass. The point of a window is to allow us to see through it--and let light into the room!

Historia
In this book of pastoral reflections, N. T. Wright explores how the Lord's Prayer sums up what Jesus was all about in his first-century setting. Wright locates the Lord's Prayer, clause by clause, within the historical life and work of Jesus and allows the prayer's devotional application to grow out of its historical context. The result is a fresh understanding of Christian spirituality and the life of prayer. This deeply devotional book will refresh and stimulate the heart and mind of any listener.

Historia
For years, Christians have been asking, "If you died tonight, do you know where you would go?" It turns out that many believers have been giving the wrong answer. It is not heaven. Wright outlines the present confusion about a Christian's future hope and shows how it is deeply intertwined with how we live today. Wright asserts that Christianity's most distinctive idea is bodily resurrection, and provides a magisterial defense for a literal resurrection of Jesus. Wright then explores our expectation of "new heavens and a new earth".
