Very Eye Opening... but...

I found the story to be important and informative. I'm very happy I read it as I wasn't aware of the severity and frequency of sexual abuse within these strict religious cultures. It's absolutely heartbreaking. =( But... an entire book with ZERO contractions?? I'm serious... I don't think there was even one single contraction. It made the narration kind of robotic sounding... in my personal opinion. Maybe it doesn't bother others, but for me it was a constant distraction. Overall a worthwhile read though.

I love the Jack Reacher stories. Always very entertaining. This one was no different. I love the eay the author develops the characters ... so detailed you cam see them clearly in yoyr mind. BUT there were a couple of things that drove me NUTS with this one in particular. First: If I had to hear the line "He said nothing." one more time I was gonna snap. I mean talk about some serious overuse. Second: The narrator makes the women sound SO WHINY. Oh my goodness... the two main women had to have been THE whiniest characters I've ever heard. SO not necessary. So overall... the story was great but there were some parts of this particular one that kind of ruined it for me.

The storyline was awesome. The narrator is very good at narration in gereral ... and I feel kind of bad saying this ... but he just doesn't quite sound the right age for the main character. It bothered me a lot at first but I eventually got used to it. Definitely didn't ruin it for me. Just annoyed me for the first little bit. But over all, it was definitely worth the purchase. =)

For the first part, I was already totally irritated with the way the narrator made every single character sound exactly the same... they ALL sounded like totally effeminate psychopathic serial killers. Even the little kid. And then enter the voice of the "Red Dragon". Seriously? I felt like I was on Haunted House ride at Disneyland. TERRIBLE! Completely ruined the rest of the book. I had to fast forward through every portion that included the voice of the "Red Dragon". I am so bummed because I love this series but ugh... the narration literally made me nauseous. =(

Such an incredible story. The subject is a bit difficult to listen to at times but at the same time, impossible to put down. Between the writing and the narration, you become the main character. The emotions are so intense that you feel them as if it's you who's struggling through them. If I could give it 10 stars I would. =)

Love love LOVED the story AND the narrator who just brought the whole thing to life. It was a very long book but I was still actually disappointed when it ended. I think I'm even going to miss the characters. However, I usually have a difficult time with endings and this one was perfect. It was just simply all around fantastic!
