Absolutely loved
Revisado: 05-29-22
I’ve read a lot of YA as a middle school teacher in an effort to get more kiddo engaged in reading and I’ve grown to really appreciate great writing combined with great, relatable characters. Love the two female leads and the depth given to their back story and development. I so appreciated the lack of love triangle that so often crops up in YA novels. I was completely engaged in the world and can’t wait to read the second book!

Historia
Two men, each handsome and unusually adept at his chosen work, embodied an element of the great dynamic that characterized America’s rush toward the twentieth century. The architect was Daniel Hudson Burnham, the fair’s brilliant director of works and the builder of many of the country’s most important structures, including the Flatiron Building in New York and Union Station in Washington, D.C. The murderer was Henry H. Holmes, a young doctor who, in a malign parody of the White City, built his “World’s Fair Hotel” just west of the fairgrounds.

I couldn’t actually finish this book
Revisado: 09-19-20
This is an extremely wordy and slow story. I gave it my best shot but couldn’t bring myself to finish it. This might be a book that is better when you actually read it rather than listen to it. But I found the story very dull which is shocking since it’s about one of the most notorious serial killers ever.

Historia
One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike ( Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.

This is one of my all time favorite books but Rosalind Pike brings it to life in the best way possible. Awesome read!

For nearly a year, Beth has been planning for her escape. She's thought through everything - a new look, new name and new city - because one small slip and her husband will find her. Engaging but somewhat predictable
Revisado: 09-19-20
This book was definitely fun to read and kept me interested the whole time. However, the plot was pretty predictable early on. It’s an easy read if not a complex one.

Historia
In the autumn of 1938, Germany's reichsführer, Heinrich Himmler, is growing frustrated at the British using their regional power in India to block the passage of an SS expedition to Tibet. Determined to spite them, he plots to steal something the British hold dear and have failed for the seventh time that spring to achieve: a first summit of Mount Everest. Seventy years later, seasoned mountain guide Neil Quinn's ninth visit to the top of the world's highest mountain, this time in charge of the 16-year-old son of a Long Island billionaire, begins to unravel.

Truly Enjoyable and Fun
Revisado: 05-03-17
Would you consider the audio edition of Summit to be better than the print version?
No, because the reader did not develop the voices well nor distinguish between characters well.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Joseph Becker - he was a man of integrity who showed selflessness and loyalty.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
I liked the story but disliked the performance. It seemed choppy and had little vocal character development.
