Historia
Anthony Peardew is the keeper of lost things. Forty years ago he carelessly lost a keepsake from his beloved fiancée, Therese. That very same day, she died unexpectedly. Brokenhearted, Anthony sought consolation in rescuing lost objects - the things others have dropped, misplaced, or accidently left behind - and writing stories about them. Now, in the twilight of his life, Anthony worries that he has not fully discharged his duty to reconcile all the lost things with their owners.

What an exquisite find!
Revisado: 08-06-18
A beautifully written story, within a story within a story. A modern ghost story but with so many other stories woven in. It touches upon modern issues but leaves out all the gory details, which in my opinion is what reading is all about - to nurture the mind and imagination. I recommend this book wholeheartedly.

Historia
The death of Lord Edward Crick has unleashed a torrent of gossip through the seedy taverns and elegant ballrooms of Oxfordshire. When her husband comes under suspicion of murder, she seeks expert help from Dr. Thomas Silkstone, a young anatomist from Philadelphia. Thomas arrived in England to study under its foremost surgeon, where his unconventional methods only add to his outsider status. Against his better judgment, he agrees to examine Lord Edward’s corpse.

Excellent Characters but just too long.

The writing and narration were terrific,. I think there were too many side trips in the plot and too many bad guys. It's almost as if the author couldn't make up her mind exactly where to focus. But This was the first book in the series and I am going to give it another try. Historical stuff was GREAT

Good but not Great
Revisado: 01-18-18
If you could sum up Song of the Lion in three words, what would they be?
A little to slow and I miss Chee's detecting. His character seems to have lost something.
What three words best describe Christina Delaine’s performance?
It's more like Italian mafia, Jersey City than Navajo.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No extremes.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I am not sure if my friends read the same type of stuff I do, but I would recommend it just for the narrator and dialogue.
What about George Guidall’s performance did you like?
George Guidall could read a physics text book and make it interesting.

Historia
In the more shadowy corners of the world, frequented by angels and demons and everything in between, Laytham Ballard is a legend. It's said he raised the dead at the age of 10, stole the Philosopher's Stone in Vegas back in 1999, and survived the bloodsucking kiss of the Mosquito Queen. Wise in the hidden ways of the night, he's also a cynical bastard who stopped thinking of himself as the good guy a long time ago.

Walked into this one not knowing what I was gettin
Revisado: 10-11-16
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I don't think anything could, too much s/m reference and rants about everything.
What does Bronson Pinchot bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Very good narrator, totally pleased with style and voices. Wish the subject matter could have been a little better.
What character would you cut from Nightwise?
I skimmed through the book to get to a better place but couldn't find it. Too gruesome and too heavy on the punishment angle.

Very soapy opera
Revisado: 10-11-16
What disappointed you about The Woman Who Walked into the Sea?
It takes too long to get where it's supposed to be, lost interest
Has The Woman Who Walked into the Sea turned you off from other books in this genre?
This is the second book by him that I have read. I have trouble liking any of his characters, and the ones I do like tend to die.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of David Monteath?
Narrator was good, kept me listening

Interesting premis, misses the mark
Revisado: 10-11-16
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
The first few hours were good.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
I walked away with a deep understanding the Stockholm syndrome and can understand it. It dragged a bit and needed more action.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Emily Sutton-Smith?
I would definitely giver her another chance.
Any additional comments?
I think this was a good first book if this is a series. But I am hoping since we have the complete explanation and her history behind us, we can get into some more reading of the body in the next episodes, that was the most interesting part and was barely touched on.

Louise Penny is one of the best mystery writers out there. This book delves deeply into the psyche of her characters while keeping us guessing as to the outcome. I would read anything by Ms. Penny, and Ralph Cosham makes the listening great.
