Mid-life FMC, shifters, vampires, fated mates, slow-burn romance
I loved this book so much! Lark is my new favorite character! I love how she responds to her struggles.
"It didn't break me. It transformed me."
I also love her unique magic. She's over forty and essentially experiences a reset.
The sentient wizard house is also my favorite character. I really enjoyed the imaginative setting and world-building. I look forward to more in this series.

I enjoyed the Texas setting and the nostalgia of returning to one's hometown. The characters are flawed yet relatable. Well-paced murder mystery.
