Not one of her best
Revisado: 03-04-25
Too long developing the story. I was surprised how much drinking there was considering one of the characters is an alcoholic. I would not recommend it to anyone. I have read a lot of Lucinda Reilly’s other books including the seven sisters series which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Then a deployment sends Jolene deep into harm's way and leaves defense attorney Michael at home, unaccustomed to being a single parent to their two girls. As a mother, it agonizes Jolene to leave her family, but as a solider, she has always understood the true meaning of duty. In her letters home, she paints a rose-colored version of her life on the front lines, shielding her family from the truth.

The ravages of PTSD.

I wish I had read the book instead of listening to it. The screeching and whining of the 12 year old and the five year old was overdone. Great story overall.

Disappointed
Revisado: 09-26-23
I love Wisconsin, Door County, Washington Island and I am a quilter but this book was a real disappointment. The music between chapters was very annoying and the chapters breaks we’re not even necessary. The narrator sounded like she was reading to a group of second graders. Not much of a story and you have to read the next book to tie up the many loose ends. I won’t bother.

Historia
Master Quilter Sylvia Bergstrom Compson Cooper is eager to revive a cherished family tradition. A recent remodeling of the manor’s kitchen unearthed a cornucopia that once served as the centerpiece of the Bergstrom family’s holiday table. Into it, each Bergstrom would place an object that symbolized something he or she was especially thankful for that year. On this quilter’s holiday, Sylvia has invited her friends to continue the tradition by sewing quilt blocks that represent their thankfulness and gratitude.

One of her best
Revisado: 11-30-22
I really enjoyed this book. I have read several of the books in this series and liked them all but I liked this one the best. I am a quilter and I love researching family histories so it fits my bill. They are all such nice real life stories and the narrator does a great job.

Sorry! I tried to plow through this but
just couldn’t finish it. I thought it would be really interesting to learn about the Ship of Brides but it dragged on and on. I need to go back and look at the reviews that encouraged me to purchase it.

Never again
Revisado: 07-24-21
I wish I had scrolled down in the reviews to read the negative responses before purchasing this book. I ended up fast forwarding through the gory killings of animals, the rapes and the explicit sex scenes. I finished the book but I will never again purchase a Nora Robert’s book without considering ALL the reviews first.

Historia
From the day that old Nana Reja found a baby abandoned under a bridge, the life of a small Mexican town forever changed. Disfigured and covered in a blanket of bees, little Simonopio is for some locals the stuff of superstition, a child kissed by the devil. But he is welcomed by landowners Francisco and Beatriz Morales, who adopt him and care for him. As he grows up, Simonopio becomes a cause for wonder to the Morales family, because when the uncannily gifted child closes his eyes, he can see what no one else can - visions of all that’s yet to come, both beautiful and dangerous.

Not for me, either!
Revisado: 02-22-20
I wish I had read more of the poor reviews because after plowing through almost 18 chapters, I gave up. This book was not for me. I did not connect with any of the characters because you never know who the narrator is representing. Don't waste your credits on this one!
