Enjoyable Ending for Vicky Bliss!
Revisado: 01-15-25
Loved Vicky Bliss! It’s a great ending for a really fun series! I loved these characters - it’s sad to come to the end. No spoilers - but I enjoyed these characters and how they grew and changed through the books. It isn’t always necessary, when reading a series, but it was nice to see a truly satisfying conclusion for these characters! Read the whole series first, it will make more sense to get to the ending. :)

Mysterious Gothic England
Revisado: 08-06-24
Barbara Michaels (the author’s real name is Barbara Mertz who is known as “Elizabeth Peters” for her Egyptian mystery books) is one of my new favorite authors. Her voice in the characters is always so strong, the people seem so real and carefully described in detail. The narration was terrific too, Barbara Rosenblat is really talented. I like her Amelia Peabody narration too. There are hints of Jane Eyre but with a few changes…This story had some true thrilling elements (exciting scary but not too gruesome) and I had my theories about the mystery but it ended slightly in a surprising way. It’s a pretty good ending too, at least in my opinion. It must be hard to find the right ending to a story like this one, but I think it tied up most of the threads of the story well. I had a few questions about the plot at the end but I might have missed things too. I’ve also enjoyed the Amelia Peabody books, so highly recommend those as well!

Thrilling and Surprising!
Revisado: 07-13-24
Wonderful narration by Nicola and Graeme alternating the points of view. This story felt like a fairytale from beginning to end- so different from other Agatha Christie stories. I loved it! If you enjoyed this, you might also enjoy the Amelia Peabody adventures by Elizabeth Peters. Those stories are set in Egypt. There’s a similar feeling to this story and the characters are just as engaging. Enjoy!

The beautiful bronzed body of Arlena Stuart lay face down on the beach. But strangely, there was no sun and Arlena was not sunbathing - she had been strangled.
Ever since Arlena's arrival the air had been thick with sexual tension. Each of the guests had a motive to kill her, including Arlena's new husband. But Hercule Poirot suspects that this apparent "crime of passion" conceals something much more evil.

Agatha Christie always keeps you guessing, even right to the very end…I loved David Suchet’s narration as well! It was a very good mystery story, a complex look into characters with hidden motives and our expectations.

Historia
The dapper, mustache-twirling little Belgian with the egg-shaped head and curious mannerisms has solved some of the most puzzling crimes of the century - and, in his own humble opinion, is "probably the greatest detective in the world". In this complete collection of more than 50 stories, ranging from short tales to novellas, Poirot faces violent murders, poisonings, kidnappings, and thefts - all solved with his characteristic panache. Only Agatha Christie could have devised cases worthy of Hercule Poirot's skill and "little gray cells".

Such a wonderful story! I’ve read it again and again, since I was little, each time enjoying the narrative and characters even more! Elizabeth Sastre is a terrific narrator too, all the voices she does are great. For ballet lovers and performers this is such a treat, but I hope others will enjoy its humor too!

Terrific Romantic Adventure
Revisado: 11-24-23
Victoria Holt has such a gift for telling a story with style. This was like three books in one, with so many separate narratives which came together in the end. The section with Australia was so real, the descriptions made me feel like I was really there. The characters were very interesting and engaging. The narration was really nice as well. It’s a long story, but do keep listening, it all does come together pretty well in the end. Even still, I was left with a few unanswered questions though. I guess that gives a better sense of mystery to the story, with more still waiting to be discovered. Enjoy!

Historia
Mount Mellyn stood as proud and magnificent as she had envisioned. But what about its master—Connan TreMellyn? Was Martha Leigh's new employer as romantic as his name sounded? As she approached the mansion towering above the cliffs of Cornwall, an odd chill of apprehension overcame her. TreMellyn's young daugher proved as spoiled and difficult as the three governesses before Martha had discovered. But it was the girl's father whose arrogant demeanor unleashed unfamiliar sensations and turmoil—even as whispers of past tragedy and present danger begin to insinuate themselves into her life.

Fantastic Story!
Revisado: 11-12-23
I enjoyed this story so much, having already read “On the Night of the Seventh Moon” by Victoria Holt (Eleanor Alice Hibbert). I liked this one as a suspenseful romance, the mystery continued until the end. There were hints of “Jane Eyre”, “Cinderella”, and Edgar Allen Poe’s writings in this story. The Cornish setting was like another character in the book itself. So dramatic and beautiful! There were significant horses included in the story which I really enjoyed, much like in “Airs Above the Ground” by Mary Stewart (another favorite author of mine). Henrietta Meire was a wonderful narrator, her voice carried the fears and unease of the characters. She did such a great job with the voices! I hope you enjoy it as well!

Magical story!
Revisado: 11-08-23
This novel was my first Victoria Holt (one of Eleanor Hibbert’s pseudonyms) so I enjoyed the introduction into her style and storytelling. I previously discovered Mary Stewart, and I loved all of her books too! This story had several fairytale elements and more realistic parts as well. Very wonderful descriptions of the places and things in the story too. It’s not to be read for its realism to life - it’s definitely a fantasy romance in my opinion. I loved the parts in Oxford too, there were so many characters that were well developed in the story. Virginia Leishman was also a terrific narrator, her accents and voices were very good. I hope you enjoy!

Rose Cottage is a Treasure!
Revisado: 10-10-23
Mary Stewart is such a wonderful writer, this story brought out lovely elements from her other stories. The mystery is there yet without horror, not much suspense or adventure, but the humor was there and so were the endearing characters. It was a gentle story, the ending was very charming too. The narration is lovely, I think of Jilly Bond as a dear grandmother recalling her life’s story. She has a warmth to her voice like a cup of Earl Grey tea. I’ve read all Mary Stewart’s books except the Merlin Chronicles, so that’s next. I can say this story is a part of her last phase - With “Thornyhold” and “The Stormy Petrel” this makes up a sweet collection of stories. I can’t believe it’s her last story, I wish there were more! What a treasure! Now, I’ll have to read them all again, starting with “Madam Will You Talk?” I’m so glad to have discovered Mary Stewart!
