Historia
It is 1890, and in the days before Christmas, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson are visited at Baker Street by a new client. Eve Allerthorpe, eldest daughter of a grand but somewhat eccentric Yorkshire-based dynasty, is greatly distressed, as she believes she is being haunted by a demonic Christmas spirit. Her late mother told her terrifying tales of the sinister Black Thurrick, and Eve is sure that she has seen the creature from her bedroom window. What is more, she has begun to receive mysterious parcels of birch twigs, the Black Thurrick’s calling card.

It’s a thinker!
Revisado: 12-20-23
I love Sherlock stories and this was no different! Had me thinking and guessing the whole way through. I’d actually guessed the whodunnit, at one point, but not for the reasons given, so I ended up in another direction, lol.

Historia
Set in the mountains of southern Appalachia, Demon Copperhead is the story of a boy born to a teenaged single mother in a single-wide trailer, with no assets beyond his dead father’s good looks and copper-colored hair, a caustic wit, and a fierce talent for survival. Relayed in his own unsparing voice, Demon braves the modern perils of foster care, child labor, derelict schools, athletic success, addiction, disastrous loves, and crushing losses.

Excellent story! Excellent narrator! I really felt like a part of the story, I was so immersed. The language and visuals are very true to the 90s.
Such a heartfelt, interesting tale.

Historia
It was a murder made for TV: a trail of tiny bloody footprints. An innocent toddler playing beside her mother’s bludgeoned body. Pretty young Corinne Wolff, seven months pregnant, brutally murdered in her own home. Cameras and questions don’t usually faze Nashville homicide lieutenant Taylor Jackson, but the media frenzy surrounding the Wolff case is particularly nasty…and thorough.

Great story, narration is lacking.
Revisado: 02-08-23
I wonder how much more I would have enjoyed this novel if they’d stayed with the original narrator. I found my mind wandering, at times, and had to go back over spots - something new for me.
The story, though, is so engaging and heartbreaking! Some great moments of Tristan - so glad to see him growing up!

My first book by Robert Bryndza and I will absolutely be back for more!
Great story… unique, thrilling, with realistic character flaws reminding us everyone is human. A little fantastical towards the end but hey, it’s fiction!
Very enjoyable… now I’m on to the next!
