So much of birding in the field is not about behavior but just species identification. This book is perfect to fill in that gap.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

I know it’s a good book when I’m sad it is over. It is so great. Highly recommend. Brilliant use of different voices for octopus and humans.

Historia
>When South African conservationist Lawrence Anthony was asked to accept a herd of "rogue" wild elephants on his Thula Thula game reserve in Zululand, his common sense told him to refuse. But he was the herd's last chance of survival: they would be killed if he wouldn't take them. In order to save their lives, Anthony took them in. In the years that followed he became a part of their family. And as he battled to create a bond with the elephants, he came to realize that they had a great deal to teach him about life, loyalty, and freedom.

I have been on photo safaris in Africa six times. I just loved listening to this book. The audible narration was as good as the actual book! I could just feel myself there with this wonderful man and the elephants he saved. It is a.must read for anyone who loves animals. I highly recommend the audio book if you are into that sort of thing.

Historia
Marie-Laure lives with her father in Paris near the Museum of Natural History, where he works as the master of its thousands of locks. When she is six, Marie-Laure goes blind and her father builds a perfect miniature of their neighborhood so she can memorize it by touch and navigate her way home. When she is 12, the Nazis occupy Paris and father and daughter flee to the walled citadel of Saint-Malo, where Marie-Laure’s reclusive great-uncle lives in a tall house by the sea. With them they carry what might be the museum’s most valuable and dangerous jewel.

One of the top ten books of my life
Revisado: 07-11-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
The audio book was great and I am sure the written one was even better. The writing certainly deserved the Pulitzer prize even if the story had not been fascinating.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Marie Lore, the blind girl and Werner, the german boy were both my favorites.
What does Zach Appelman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I am not sure what I would have gotten by reading it but Zach Appelman was amazing.
If you could take any character from All the Light We Cannot See out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Marie Lore because I would like to know more about her fascination with 20000 Leagues under the Sea.
Any additional comments?
Great, great book. I enjoyed it as much as The Goldfinch.
