Five Years Earlier: Henry Dunne knows three things: that agreeing to host this raucous house party was a terrible idea, that he absolutely cannot show up to his nursing shift tomorrow with a hangover, and that the beautiful redhead in the corner will be sleeping in his bed tonight.

Don’t look for me in the person you met yesterday
Revisado: 09-04-24
People are fallible. Love is real.. mistakes happen.. and while everything is not forgettable, everything is forgivable. so many lessons in an audible that in my opinion should be on someone’s best sellers list. I am a harsh critic, and I rarely find myself leaving reviews. This book was worth the listen… I found myself pulled emotionally at even the most predictable parts and predictability is usually what leads me away from a book.. I can tell the writer put themselves into the writing.. even the most frustrating parts felt honest and realistic.. if you’re trying to decide whether or not to listen to this book.. just do it and blame me if you don’t like it

Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

Wish I could give this 10 stars
Revisado: 08-22-23
The author coupled adversity with relatable positivity,…which is rare to find in books that show up on the forefront of my “must reads”. I laughed .. I got excited.. I was encouraged. I appreciate having been able to listen to this book and I will likely listen to it again. Another rarity.

Greater than One
Revisado: 06-09-23
I am an avid reader and but I had never read Tracy Brown.
I finished this book in 3 days and found I had mixed feelings about it. (Though I lean to the positive)
The stories of the characters were solid. I didn’t have any doubts about who the characters were and even though I was surprised at some of the outcomes, each made sense considering the personas. The interactions between characters were realistic and engaging. Typically, I put a book down if I don’t like the direction I think a character is going in but this book was different as the choices fit the characters. At those moments of truth I was compelled to lean into the story more and even yelled at the book a few times instead of fast- forwarding through their mistakes. I liked it
On the other hand, I felt there was way too much narration and my first I
thought was the storyline was being rushed. As I progressed through the book this thought morphed a little as I reached segments where the book felt like it should end but I’d look and there were 6 more hours to go.
I mention this to say that I feel like the author had a series that she squeezed into a single novel. A lot of the narration could have been dialogue and this could have been a great series of 3 or 4 books.
I do plan to read (or listen to) more Tracy Brown to get a feel of how she typically writes and I would recommend this book to other readers with the understanding that the story may feel a little drawn out but it’s still an overall good story.

Encouraging
Revisado: 05-19-23
As a single woman who is currently using dating apps, this book was both a Bertha, fresh air and tool for understanding how you can evolve through the dating process. I’m a few years out of the game and hearing the stories sounded familiar making it easier for me to envision myself jumping back in. Thank you.

I hated it
Revisado: 02-10-23
This is going to sound like a negative review, but it isn’t.
This book managed to take pretty much every stereotype and prejudice and disjointed sense of justice, and put it all in one place. I actually stopped listening it twice at the beginning. I even tried to return it, but couldn’t figure out how until I saw a friend post how much she liked it, and wanted to hug some of the characters at the end.
So I turn the book back on, and I listen to it for pretty much three days straight to finish it because I couldn’t stop listening at that point. Well, I kept hoping that the terribly written journeys of these characters would change.. I realized how important this might be if this was the author’s intention from the beginning.
This book should be studied …like in a high school . I am not familiar with the writings of this artist, but if his playing into all of the bias and weird ideas of who people grow to be was intentional then he touches on a lot of topics rushing over some pretty big ones and I think that should be discussed .. even the narration was terribly good

Historia
All her life, Andie Mitchell had eaten lustily and mindlessly. Food was her babysitter, her best friend, her confidant, and it provided a refuge from her fractured family. But when she stepped on the scale on her 20th birthday and it registered a shocking 268 pounds, she knew she had to change the way she thought about food and herself; that her life was at stake.

I exhaled…
Revisado: 12-23-21
I’d recommend this book to anyone struggling to find their place. It’s such and honest account of the everyday girl struggling with an addiction that she overcame. Andie is a role model to anyone in a battle with obesity but it offers so much more. For me, this book reminded me to see the happy. To have a better understanding of the good around me even when I don’t feel like i fit into that “good”. The four star rating is because some of the story felt untold. It was like there was so much to pack into she couldn’t delve deeper. In some of her personal battles I needed to hear more.
Please do not, however, let that deter you from this read. It was very well worth it. So many little gems that made me reflect on where I am. I could see myself reading it again.

The End
Revisado: 11-11-20
I wanted this story to close differently and at first it bothered me until I considered why I was bothered. This is a story of pain and loss and discovery and taking chances. While I’d like a part 2 it would only be to give myself hope when that can’t come from a book.. a very good listen.
