I loved this book from start to finish. It was light hearted and funny. No eyerolling clichés or over the top dramatics. Just the right mix of reality and whimsy. I loved this book.

I'd recommend this to anyone who looks up to Lacey or is going through a difficult upbringing to show that you can move past it and find something to be passionate about.

Diane Crayton is the Main Character

The pawn shop owner is mentioned briefly then peppered in to keep the story together. Diane Crayton is the main character who is bland and ordinary. You can pop her into any modern novel and she'd fit it just fine. A working mother trying to get along with her son. This story lacks Night Vale ' mystery and suspense in the face of the unknown. don't get me wrong I love slice of life novels where the every day is dull but pleasantly fun. Even as a Night Vale book this is painfully plain and boring.

What other book might you compare Howl's Moving Castle to and why?

I'd compare this to the Claidi Journals. The world building is similar where magic and supernatural occurrences are common place but there are still mysteries in either universe.

What about Jenny Sterlin’s performance did you like?

Jenny Sterlin did an excellent job of distinguishing each character's voice and personality through the performance. It was really well done and well preformed.

Any additional comments?

I only got this book to compare it to the Ghibli movie and I have to say the movie was fairly accurate in its story line. If you're coming from the movie into this book I'd say you do learn a few more bits and pieces about the story but nothing groundbreaking. Overall its very similar in plot to the movie so don't expect a world of difference, at least that's what I experienced. All in all I'd say get this book if you like a bit of a slow paced, day by day sort of novel. I do, so I enjoyed it fairly well.

It needs to be said that this is a very slow paced story where it doesn't feel like much happens but it does just very slowly. If you enjoy slower paced audiobooks go for the purchase but if you like a bit more excitement with more relatable characters and fascinating world building I'd recommend a different book.

Fun Story,Monotone Narrator

I really wanted to like this audiobook. I liked the story and it was very fun and enjoyable for the most part but I really disliked the narrator's deadpan/monotone voice while she was reading. The narrator sounds a bit too old for this book. I think we need someone who sounds a bit younger and less monotone.

Loved It! Hilarious & Fun

Total

This was a light fluffy fun book and I enjoyed it a lot. This is the kind of book you pick up for a good laugh & a smile. The main character, Isabel isn't your typical chick lit socialite. She's an ordinary woman who tries to be sophisticated but somehow always ends up in the most hilariously awkward situations. Isabel's exaggerated imagination and colorful humor make the book a delight to listen to. The book is well worth the credit. I thoroughly recommend it for someone who's looking for a book that's a good laugh & loads of fun. This was money well spent.

Don't Waste Your Money

Total

Revisado: 07-01-10

The narrative is flat and unimaginative. The author repeats the plot line to the reader more often then the names of the main characters. It's as though the author feels that the listener/reader is SO dense that they need the plot repeated six times every three pages. Not to mention the character development is null and void. The novel is mainly told through Kahlan's point of view which is unexpected but tolerable at first, but after the first half an hour I grew tired of her endless devotion to Richard; which she states about five times every chance she gets a bit of dialogue. Furthermore most of the "feministic" women seem to spend a lot of time serving or proclaiming their devotion to Richard. And the narrator seems to add onto this by giving each female character a whiny and pleading voice. In summary, don't waste your money.
