Historia
When a banished witch falls in love with the legendary trickster Loki, she risks the wrath of the gods in this moving, subversive debut novel that reimagines Norse mythology. Angrboda’s story begins where most witches' tales end: with a burning. A punishment from Odin for refusing to provide him with knowledge of the future, the fire leaves Angrboda injured and powerless, and she flees into the farthest reaches of a remote forest. There she is found by a man who reveals himself to be Loki, and her initial distrust of him transforms into a deep and abiding love.

When the black rain began to fall, it was a worldwide phenomenon that mystified everyone. What about Vikas Adam’s performance did you like?
He gave all the characters life. He made sure that their personalities were their own and showed an amazing range in his ability. I listened to the first book and liked the story but what really made me get the second AND now the third book is the narrator - he is amazing!!

Historia
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Not what I was expecting
Revisado: 02-22-16
Honestly there were too many things that weren't really explained for me. Why were people committing suicide? What's with the bugs?
The story had so much potential but then just randomly went off the trail and didn't come back.
If you get this book for free and don't mind randomness - then take a listen. But don't buy the book.
I love this author's EX series - now those are worth buying. This? Nope.

Worth it even if you don't have a credit available
Revisado: 08-19-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes - I really liked the route that they went with this book - I would never have guessed the ending
What other book might you compare The Girl with All the Gifts to and why?
I personally have not read anything that I could really compare it to - maybe Matilda but for adults
Which scene was your favorite?
I don't really have a favorite scene - I loved the whole thing
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When the relationship between the doctor and the little girl changed - and the alpha emerged
Any additional comments?
I hope that there is a second book because I do want to see what happens to others because of the little girl's closing actions.

Historia
A prison doctor injects a condemned serial killer with a formula designed to keep his consciousness awake while his body rots in the grave. But all drugs have unforeseen side-effects. Before he can be buried, the killer wakes up. Hungry. Infected. Contagious. This is the way the world ends. Not with a bang… but a bite.

Slow Beginning But Worth Staying Around For
Revisado: 07-01-14
Would you consider the audio edition of Dead of Night to be better than the print version?
I am starting to listen to books more and more - I don't really have time for reading nowadays and this allows me to get my much needed "fix"
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
The main character - Officer Desdemona Fox - was not relatable at all. There are strong female characters and there are annoying ones. She was annoying. The story was pretty good and the other characters were ok (not much depth) but over all, Fox almost had me putting this book down. I also think that the theory of the parasite has some major flaws but I liked the reasoning of the doctor - that was something that would be fitting.
Have you listened to any of William Dufris’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not but he did really well. He definitely put a lot of heart into this performance and I look forward to hearing some of his other work.
If you could rename Dead of Night, what would you call it?
Probably some thing like This Is How The World Ends or something about a Death Storm.
Any additional comments?
Of the Zombie novels that I have read - this one is probably top 20 but not top 15. I like the background leading up to the Doctor's reasoning of creating this strain but there were a lot of flaws and holes in the story that were never really discussed and the main character, Officer Desdemona Fox, was a real annoyance. I am all for strong female leads, but when they are written like that, I would much rather have the male lead than what her character was from the beginning up to the very last page. I will probably not read this again but I would recommend it to others for something to pass the time with.

Good Trilogy Ending
Revisado: 05-21-14
Would you consider the audio edition of The Wrath of the Just to be better than the print version?
I have started to like audio books a lot because of great narrators like Nick Podehl. Before I had been a die-hard hard-copy person and didn't have much time for audio books - but have recently changed my mind because of the great performances that I have listened to - like Nick Podehl/.
Would you be willing to try another book from Manel Loureiro and Pamela Carmell (translator) ? Why or why not?
Yes I would - I know that a lot of this book was filled with the impossible, but some times that is just what I need.
What does Nick Podehl bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
OMG yes - I wish that we had a way to keep a list of our favorite narrators on this site.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
**SPOILER** These characters were in so many impossible situations, and got out of most of them, that when my favorite character Prit didn't make it out of his - it hurt. I read these kind of books for the impossible and when your get attached to a character, it hurts to see when they don't make it out of the situation.
Any additional comments?
The end was a little rushed and I feel that there could have been a lot more done with it - but overall, this trilogy was a good read.

Ron Perlman has everything you want!
Revisado: 05-19-14
Where does The Strain rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It is in my top 5 now - I just wish that Ron Perlman had been the one to read the rest of the books in this trilogy.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Setrakian - the old professor. I love how they kept doing flash backs of his life and previous encounters.
What about Ron Perlman’s performance did you like?
Everything - absolutely everything. I love his voice, the personality that he gave all the characters, just everything.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes it was and I was actually able to listen to a lot of it on a car trip.
Any additional comments?
Seriously wish that Ron Perlman had been the one to read the other books - listened to the sample and it's just not the same. I am probably just going to buy the hardcopy of the following books to read to myself instead of get the other 2 in audio.
