This was a beautiful story of God’s Grace and redemption. The writing felt a little disjointed at times, but I would expect nothing less from a country singer turned debut author. My main criticism is that the book should have come with a content warning.

There was a pretty graphic scene depicting a young girl getting an abortion. As someone who is anti abortion I am well aware of what that process can look like, but I don’t seek to hear about details. I am a new mom and found the scene incredibly disturbing, so much so that I had nightmares about it. I wasn’t expecting so much detail as I’ve read other books by Rachel Hauck and have not run across anything else like it. If abortion details are triggering to you, you may want to skip this one.

I love Susan May Warren and was excited to continue the story of RJ and York. Unfortunately the narrator ruined the book for me. He was too dramatic and took too many liberties with pauses. I could only make it an hour into the book before I gave up.

The Perfect Christmas Love Story

If I have one complaint, it’s that this book wasn’t longer. I loved Will and Lauren’s story. They were incredibly relatable and their personal struggles were honest and raw. The concept of two people being stuck on an unexpectedly long road trip was delightful and I enjoyed every minute.
