Historia
Jamie Fraser and Claire Randall were torn apart by the Jacobite Rising in 1746, and it took them 20 years to find each other again. Now the American Revolution threatens to do the same. It is 1779, and Claire and Jamie are at last reunited with their daughter, Brianna, her husband, Roger, and their children on Fraser’s Ridge. Having the family together is a dream the Frasers had thought impossible.

There's evidently lots of time on the ridge to reminisce about past events and entertain the kids. Nothing much happens until very late in the book. I saved this audio book for a holiday road trip and was bored out of my mind.

The Phage War had been a devastating conflict for the Terran Confederacy. Even with the destruction of their terrifying, implacable foe, humanity is still reeling. Political alliances are crumbling, and their mighty fleet is in tatters. There is nothing to celebrate, even after such a complete victory. They soon learn that there are other stellar neighbors - and they've been watching the conflict with great interest. One species comes with an offer of friendship and alliance, but humanity is weary and distrustful.

Totally Forgettable
Revisado: 06-13-21
This is a one page story synopsis stretched into an 8hr narrative. I frequently found myself restarting chapters because I'd spaced off from boredom.

Don MUST Die
Revisado: 02-07-21
This story had so much potential but was ruined by being filled with obnoxious characters and ridiculous conversations. Impossible to believe any of these clowns would be chosen to crew the first mission to another planet. Every plot twist was filled with over the top reactions and angry shouting.
I actually liked the bits of science here and there and the plot unfolds quickly.

Historia
Julian was the boy next door. My brother's best friend, he fit with my family in ways I never could. While he and Rhett went on to play house, I left the only life I knew, desperate for a fresh start. Until everything changed. Heartache came along, and the aftermath of my brother's death was here to stay. I was now face to face with Julian more than I ever wanted to be. Being around him brought up all my insecurities, forced me to deal with hard truths, and conjured up feelings I had no business entertaining. He wasn't the man I thought I knew.

Decent Story with Stupid Epilogue
Revisado: 08-18-20
This is a really decent story right up until the end.
For some unknown reason the author decided to end the story with a epilogue describing the guys hijacking a very public event to announce their love. The behavior is juvenile and so out of character for these two mature guys who have been through so much.
So, skip the buzz-kill epilogue and enjoy Julian and Deacon's melancholy love story. Narration is superb.

Historia
When a young boy at a bowling alley has his cheeseburger delivered by a handsome future air force cadet, an infatuation develops so strong that three years later, when he learns the older boy's home town, he sets off on his bike to find him. The relationship that develops between the two boys is one of the most heartwarming and seductive in coming of age literature. Luke Hartwell, known for his honest portrayals of young adult sexuality and his compelling first-person narrators, has written a beautiful story with characters that listeners will want to befriend.

Exquisite Heat Ache
Revisado: 08-18-20
This is a beautifully written story that begins and ends with a newspaper announcement.
It’s the story of Nathan and Harper’s friendship spanning five years and told from Nathan’s perspective. The boys meet briefly when Nathan is 9 and then 3 years later after Nathan discovers Harper’s identify and acceptance into a Military Academy. It’s the story of Nathan’s boyhood crush that quickly turns into first love and Harper’s struggle to keep the friendship platonic, to do the morally right thing and follow his dream of becoming an astronaut. I admired Nathan’s courage and determination as his character matured over the years. The longing he feels for Harper is palpable. Nathan will ultimately have to decide if having only what Harper can offer will be enough. The man the boys encounter while camping is like a warning message sent from the future on the traps we create for ourselves.
The narration is superb.
If this story had a soundtrack, the theme song would be Garth Brook’s “The Dance”.
I’ll be reflecting on this short little story for days..

Historia
When Geo signs up for Family Camp, he envisions nature hikes, s’mores, and a chance to win over his recalcitrant new foster kids, Jayden and Lucy. He’s tried to become a dad for so long, and he hopes the three of them can be the family he’s always wanted. What he doesn’t anticipate is the prickly and gorgeous camp counselor who constantly comes to his rescue. Travis spends a week every year at Camp Evermore, the camp his adoptive parents own. He has one rule: Never, ever mess around with anyone at camp.

Sickeningly Sweet
Revisado: 06-17-20
I don't even know where to begin... This story has one too many camp sing a longs and adults talking to children as if they all have mental impairments.
The dialogue coming out of Geo's mouth was ridiculous and he sounded more like a middle schooler tather than a middle school teacher. The misunderstanding and unnecessary angst at the beginning of the story was lame. I couldn't finish the book.

Historia
After the death of his wife, Tanner Rowe takes a step toward making her dying wish come true and buys the house with the dilapidated barn she'd been drawn to in the Upper Peninsula. But after a year, he still can't get past his grief long enough to make the repairs he'd promised. Recently out of prison, Cole Lachlan has little to his name. Homeless, broke, and without many options as a felon, Cole heads to Red Bluff with hopes of a second chance. There he meets Tanner, whose loneliness mirrors his own, and soon Cole is trading room and board for rebuilding the burned-out barn.

Great Story Destroyed by Narrator

Couldn't Hold My Attention
Revisado: 05-03-20
I seem to have a love/hate relationship with this author.
This is one dull story and I'm mystified by all the 5 star reviews.
The characters aren't very interesting.
I gave the book 7 hours of my life and had to quit.

Historia
For years, the biggest threat that Yellowstone was thought to offer was in the form of its semi-dormant super volcano. Little did anyone realize the threat was real and slowly working its way to the surface, but not in the form of magma. Lying deep within the bowels of the Earth itself, an ancient virus waited. Recently credited with the extinction of Neanderthal man, the virus erupts into a crowded Yellowstone. The park is packed with sight seers and party goers during a benefit concert who are all now fodder for the ancient rage virus.

Great Concept / Disappointing Execution
Revisado: 04-16-20
This story is driven entirely by stupid people making the same stupid mistakes over and over again.
The audio book is also overpriced for a 5.5hr incomplete story with an abruptly ending. I'm not taking the hook to buy the next couple chapters in book two.

Nothing Like the 1st Book
Revisado: 01-08-20
James and Emma were brilliant in the first book. Smart, level headed people with a keen sense to problem solve and anticipate. They're both blundering idiots in this sequel. James makes one stupid mistake after another and the plot line with his former professor/critic is ludicrous. In book two, Emma is reduced to "filler" character who reads self help books to survivors and child care duties, LOTS of child care story here. The whole Grid rationale for kicking humans off the planet made no sense to me. I quit 8hrs. into the book.
