Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

I loved this story. I'm a huge S King fan, and while this is a departure from his early iconic work, it's a great story with awesome narration. Listen and enjoy.

Historia
On the surface, Lydia Fitzsimons has the perfect life - wife of a respected, successful judge, mother to a beloved son, mistress of a beautiful house in Dublin. That beautiful house, however, holds a secret. And when Lydia’s son, Laurence, discovers its secret, wheels are set in motion that lead to an increasingly claustrophobic and devastatingly dark climax.

Can't say much more than whoa without a spoiler, but this is a vicious, twisted little gem of a novel. Enjoy it.

Historia
As a child, Chris Hooper dreamed of monsters. But in deep space, he found only darkness and isolation. Then, on planet LV178, he and his fellow miners discovered a storm-scoured, sand-blasted hell - and trimonite, the hardest material known to man. When a shuttle crashes into the mining ship Marion, the miners learn that there was more than trimonite deep in the caverns. There was evil, hibernating and waiting for suitable prey.

Loved every minute
Revisado: 03-15-17
Where does Alien: Out of the Shadows rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Near the top. The voice acting is great, especially Hooper and LaChance. And the voice of Ripley sounds about as much like Sigorney Weaver as one could hope for. There is other excellent voice work, but I don't want to put in a spoiler!
What was one of the most memorable moments of Alien: Out of the Shadows?
Running from the Xenomorphs in the mine. The total production value of the piece comes out in that scene - not just a narrator doing voice work, but a cast with production support ratcheting up the tension and really helping me "see" as if it were a movie.
Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, this is my first Audible Original listen
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
I'm no good at these questions!

Historia
The debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people's lives. Every day the same. Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.

It's no Gone Girl
Revisado: 03-15-17
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Yes, the novel was good enough for me not to consider it a waste of time, but not stand out or spectacular in any way. With all the comparisons to Gone Girl maybe I expected too much, but this book was just okay in my view.
If you’ve listened to books by Paula Hawkins before, how does this one compare?
This is my first Paula Hawkins novel
Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favorite?
Rachel - the narrator did an excellent job of building the tension and eroding confidence Rachel experiences through out the book.
Could you see The Girl on the Train being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Looks like they made it into a movie - much of the tension, mystery and atmosphere in the novel is created through internal dialogue of the two unreliable narrators, so I'm interested to see how they replicate that on the big screen.
Any additional comments?
Pretty standard unreliable narrator mystery, and I found the big reveal a little underwhelming. Can't say more without a spoiler, but all in all i found the book to be just "okay."

Any better?!
Revisado: 09-13-16
If anyone does it better than JA and Steven Pacey, I don't know who they are. If you have never read any of the First Law books, don't start here, as some story threads get finished off that start in earlier books. But if you are trying to decide if you want to listen to something by Abercrombie, you can't get much better than this.

so good is hard to describe
Revisado: 10-07-15
first off, and this is no spoiler, this is a sad book. all of the characters lives steeped in tragedies and those shape their lives. the second, the performance is amazing, and third the writing is so heart wrenching ly good! my one and only complaint is that there is a fair amount Spanish in the story, and while beautifully performed, my rusty Spanish could not always keep up. had I been reading the book, I could have looked up the phrases.

Revisado: 10-06-15
I really wanted to like this book. it's an interesting premise based on the description, execution just wasn't there. the characters ended up in a love triangle, and every twist was predictable miles away. great performances, but save your credits unless you are into poorly done YA fiction.

Zack Lightman has never much cared for reality. He vastly prefers the countless science-fiction movies, books, and videogames he's spent his life consuming. And too often, he catches himself wishing that some fantastic, impossible, world-altering event could arrive to whisk him off on a grand spacefaring adventure.

Revisado: 08-24-15
Sophomore slump on this one. not a bad book per se, but not the amazing ride RP1 was. Careful with your credits here. it's predictable, and the story is not very creative. and don't get me started on the ending- no spoilers, but let's just say high cheese factor.

Some Issues Here....
Revisado: 04-09-13
I am being intentionally vague because I hate placing a spoiler in a review.
I had some issues with this story. It felt unfinished to me, and some of the plot mechanisms used were unnecessary or ill suited to their intended purpose. There are characters that go under developed but we expect them to play a big role in the story, and the author does little to reconcile that.
The story moves along like a slow burning match you held too long and eventually burns you, but only because you forgot you were holding it.
Just know it is a slightly above mediocre effort that is not terrible, but not great.
