I've been looking forward to Macy's story ever since she was introduced in The Proposal. Macy is Livia's innocent best friend who finds herself at the mercy of Colin, another character we met in The Proposal. I really loved this story and the way these two seemingly incompatible characters found something in each other that was uniquely suited to them. While this has Kitty's signature brand of darkness, there's a lot of humor that lightened the mood. I enjoyed being privy to Macy's thoughts and ramblings. Colin is a bit more of a dark horse and, at times, I wasn't quite sure of the direction the book was going to take. He is certainly a dark character and not a safe choice, but I couldn't help but root for this couple. Of course, there's kink and heat that you'd expect from a Kitty Thomas book. Overall, I really enjoyed this one and can't wait to see more of these characters!

Poor audio quality

I enjoyed the story but poor audio quality of female narration almost ruined it for me. To clarify, the narration itself was fine, but there were definitely issues with background noise and consistency of pitch and volume with the female part.

Unique secret society romance!

I absolutely loved A. Zavarelli's unique take on dark secret society romance. Natalia and Alessio are two broken people who come together as enemies in the midst of so many secrets and lies. The book is full of twists and unexpected revelations. Alessio isn't quite what you'd expect and yet everything you want. I did have to suspend my disbelief regarding his prodigious bedroom skills in light of his lack of experience. Natalia is a curious mix of broken pieces and a core if strength. I wasn’t sure about a mute heroine but it totally worked here. The narrators did an amazing job bringing the book to life! Definitely recommend for dark romance lovers!

It's not a secret that I absolutely adore Kitty Thomas' writing and have yet to read a book of hers I haven't loved. The proposal, however, is in a league of its own. While this isn't by far the darkest or the most twisted book Ms. Thomas has ever written, The Proposal has a refreshingly different tone underneath the usual dark themes explored in Kitty's books. For me, it's usually the male characters that make this author's books, but in this case Livia stole the show. I just couldn't get enough of her sass, humor, honesty and no-nonsense attitude when it came to going after what she wanted. And while I can totally see how some readers might take issue with Livia's methods, they made sense to me in light of her history. This is not to say that the male characters weren't great. They absolutely were everything I would expect from this author and then some. This book is also structured differently and is a slower burn which, surprisingly, worked exceptionally well. Once we do get to the steamy scenes, they are fire! The chemistry between these characters is explosive! All of this steamy twisted goodness is wrapped up in a satisfying HEA complete with some surprises I didn't see coming. The Proposal is a must read for all fans of Kitty Thomas and a good place to start for those who are unfamiliar with this author's work.

The narrators did an amazing job bringing this story to life! I know I'm in for a treat every time I open a new Kitty Thomas book, but the Escape Artist exceeded my admittedly high expectations! The Escape Artist is the story of Ari who we met in The Con Artist (if you haven't read this book then what are you waiting for?). A woman broken buy her traumatic past, a man both desperate and conflicted about taking what he needs, and an extreme case of mistaken identity combine to create the kind of story I'll keep going back to time and time again. I adore both main characters in this book. I fell for Ari while reading The Con Artist and Kitty Thomas definitely delivered when it comes to his character. What a complex, noble, caring, compassionate, dominant, not to mention unbelievably hot hero! Clair is no less intriguing - both broken and fierce, torn apart by inability to reconcile her desires with her past trauma. Aside from the psychological intensity of this story, it is also extremely steamy and hot! Ari and Claire's chemistry is undeniable, not to mention the addition of some beloved characters in the mix. I won;t give spoilers, but will say that those who read The Con Artist, will be very satisfied by certain parts of this story. Last but not least, I love Ari's interactions with his other pet (you'll have to read the book to find out who it is!). An absolute must read for all fans of Kitty Thomas or anyone who is thinking of dipping their toes into the magical world she creates!

While the narration was decent, the story just put me to sleep. I enjoyed the other books in the series, but this one missed the mark for me.

Hot story with a twist

This was quite unexpected in a good way. What starts out as a hot and kinky romp, turns into something else entirely. I found Sunshine very endearing and definitely rooted for her to find he r HEA. Did she? Listen to find out. I didn’t quite connect with the eroticism of the story mostly due to the language used. But I still enjoyed the premise and was blown away by the ending!

Loved this book even more in audio! The narrators did an amazing job bringing it to life!

I have a love-hate relationship with fairy tale retellings. I always love the concept, but am often disappointed with the execution. I am a huge fan of A. Zavarelli's writing, but was a bit apprehensive going into this retelling of Cinderella. However, I needn't have worried. Ms. Zavarelli took a beloved fairy tale and turned it into a dark and delicious tale of survival, revenge, love, hate, obsession and so much more. This book made me so mad so many times throughout that I'm surprised my kindle survived the onslaught. I hated certain characters in Stealing Cinderella so so much! Now Ella herself at first seemed sort of like a carbon copy of the original Cinderella and I kept waiting for the birds to burst out in song as she was doing her many, many, many chores. But as we go further into the story, new and interesting facets to her personality emerge and, while still quite the goody two shoes, she becomes a much more complex and intriguing character. But what really made this story come alive for me is Thorsen. You don't really get to know the prince in the original fairy tale. This story, however, is heavily focused on his character. And what a character it is! He is so broken and broody and a contradiction of questionable morals and unwavering loyalty. A. Zavarelly tackles some heavy subjects involving childhood abuse and mental illness. She handles these subjects with care and they fit well into the story. I loved Thorsen's relationship with Calder and definitely wouldn't mind getting his story in the future. The chemistry between Ella and Thorsen is off the charts and the two are quite hot together! This is not your grandma's fairy tale! Overall, I really enjoyed this dark retelling of Cinderella and recommend it to all lovers of dark romance.

Horrible narrator.

Honestly, I can’t even comment on the story as the horrible narration ruined the book. Also, if you have dual POV in first person, you need dual narration.

suspenseful and hot!

This was my first book by S. Massery and I'm hooked. The story was full of mystery and suspense that kept up throughout. I loved Caleb's deviousness and can't wait to see what his motives are and what he does next. I would have preferred for Margot to have more of a backbone. Hopefully, she develops one as the series continues. The side characters were interesting and there was plenty of steam! The cliff hanger at the end blew my mind. I definitely didn't see that coming . I enjoyed the dual narration and can't wait for book two!
