Historia
Everyone is born curious. But only some retain the habits of exploring, learning, and discovering as they grow older. Those who do so tend to be smarter, more creative, and more successful. But at the very moment when the rewards of curiosity have never been higher, it is misunderstood and undervalued, and increasingly monopolized by the cognitive elite. A "curiosity divide" is opening up.

I picked this up and had no idea what to expect and I’m eager to listen a second time. It’s inspiring and reminds me that curiosity is a muscle we can strengthen and it is also a choice. It can change everything.

Historia
In the winter of 1918, at the height of World War I, history's most lethal influenza virus erupted in an army camp in Kansas, moved east with American troops, then exploded, killing as many as 100 million people worldwide. It killed more people in 24 weeks than AIDS has killed in 24 years, more in a year than the Black Death killed in a century. But this was not the Middle Ages, and 1918 marked the first collision between modern science and epidemic disease.

Excellent. And frighteningly timely.

How did I not learn any of this in all my years in school? This fascinating and horrifying story is all the more captivating because it is true. And we seem not to have learned.
As a non-medical reader, I agree there is a bit of wading through technicalities and I also agree with some of the other reviewers that some of the bios are longer than necessary. But I highly recommend the book. I listen at 1.5 speed.

I listened to this book and realized immediately I would need to buy a hard copy as well. So many AHA moments!
This is her best book yet, giving insight and advice that will be applicable immediately both at work and home.
I love that the author reads it, making me feel like we are sitting down having coffee or wine and I get to learn straight from Brene.

Historia
One hundred thousand years ago, at least six human species inhabited the Earth. Today there is just one. Us. Homo sapiens. How did our species succeed in the battle for dominance? Why did our foraging ancestors come together to create cities and kingdoms? How did we come to believe in gods, nations, and human rights; to trust money, books, and laws; and to be enslaved by bureaucracy, timetables, and consumerism?

Nobody Owens, known to his friends as Bod, is a normal boy. He would be completely normal if he didn't live in a sprawling graveyard, being raised and educated by ghosts, with a solitary guardian who belongs to neither the world of the living nor of the dead. There are dangers and adventures in the graveyard for a boy. But if Bod leaves the graveyard, then he will come under attack from the man Jack - who has already killed Bod's family…

Historia
"While the history books are filled with tales of obsessive visionary geniuses who remade the world in their images with sheer, almost irrational force, I've found that history is also made by individuals who fought their egos at every turn, who eschewed the spotlight, and who put their higher goals above their desire for recognition." Wish I had listened to this at 25
Revisado: 08-14-16
Where does Ego Is the Enemy rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
One of the few books I will listen to again. So many ideas and tales I need to hear.
What other book might you compare Ego Is the Enemy to and why?
This collection of historical vignettes and personal insights, combined with amazing quotes made it unlike other books I've listened to lately.
What about Ryan Holiday’s performance did you like?
This topic hits close to home with Ryan and I appreciated his candor and style. His performance is less of a performance, really. It's him reading his book in a very personal and meaningful way.
What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?
Ego is the enemy. Sweep daily.
Any additional comments?
Worth the listen! I have shared it with several friends and both my college-aged children.

Historia
Guy Montag is a fireman. In his world, where television rules and literature is on the brink of extinction, firemen start fires rather than put them out. His job is to destroy the most illegal of commodities, the printed book, along with the houses in which they are hidden. Montag never questions the destruction and ruin his actions produce, returning each day to his bland life and wife, Mildred, who spends all day with her television "family."

Revisado: 11-05-14
Where does Fahrenheit 451 rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
One of the best I've listened to EVER, this version of Fahrenheit 451 captured me from the first line. Tim Robbins is amazing and tells this story beautifully.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Fahrenheit 451?
Guy came to life through this presentation.
Have you listened to any of Tim Robbins’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is the first of his I've heard and now am on the search to add the rest to my collection.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
His reading made me laugh and cry--Bradbury's foresight and Robbins' ability to portray so many emotions were one of favorite parts of the experience.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I selected this book because it came up as a suggestion and LOVED it. Having the author read it made it especially enjoyable, as his passion for the topic of distilling life to the very best part comes through in his advice, his stories, his applicable tips. As I drive from client to client, appointment to appointment and commitment to commitment, this books struck a chord. I have suggested it to at least 10 people and suggest it to YOU as well.
What did you learn from Essentialism that you would use in your daily life?
If something isn't "hell yes" then it's a "no."
This book is definitely a "hell yes." Read it.

Historia
The incomparable master of the legal thriller takes us deeper into the labyrinth that is the American justice system, always drawing us in with an irresistible hook, pulling the thread of tension tighter and tighter, and then knocking us out with a conclusion that's never "by the book". Maybe that's why, after more than 20 years of consecutive number-one New York Times best sellers, a new novel by America's favorite storyteller is still a major publishing event.

Grisham Delivers Again
Revisado: 04-22-12
Would you listen to The Litigators again? Why?
I rarely reread (or relisten) but I would listen to this again. The characters are funny and the story held my attention. This is a great vacation read.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
I read Grisham to relax--and be entertained. His writing is somewhat predictable, but I like his style.
Which character – as performed by Dennis Boutsikaris – was your favorite?
Finley and Figg were both hilarious in their own ways.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Have you heard the one about the ambulance chasing lawyer?
