overly repetitive

3 stars overall. To me, that's worth reading.

Good points: narration was very good from both actors and the story made me feel, at least a little

bad points: inner thoughts were repetitive. main f was unrealistically angelic and a little boring. The story is a trope about goodness and positivity having the power to emotionally cure someone but it didn't have any teeth. I recommend it, if that's what you like in a romance. You can easily read this as a stand alone. I read it as a series and was disappointed there was very little interaction with Crispin.

Good male Narrator, Yummy Hero

Fun book, good characters. Medium spice. Despite being "evil", this dude was insta-infatuated w his virginal interloper, so that aspect was a little formulaic and dull. He does actually pull off a rotten stunt towards the end, which made him *slightly* less perfect and more believable.

Silky Male Narrator, Dark Story

I liked this book a lot more than I thought I would. There's a male Narrator, and this is more his story than hers.

I'm okay with that. Dealing with PTSD is a major part of the story, no spoilers.

The Narrator was fantastic as well.

Kind of Boring and Repetitive

This was long and repetitive and most of the plot focus was on issues in NYC society near the turn of the 20th century. important? Definitely....but not rly what I'm looking for in a romance.

There was a nice dash of spice more than halfway thru that woke me up for a few min, but the rest was just kind of dull. MM was in love from the beginning, MF is a Lil miss perfect. Narrator gives all men a nasally voice that makes me think of a rich butler cartoon.

This wasn't the most fun, but it was enough for me to try one more in the series.

Good Conclusion to a Fun Series

This was a fun series with some original take on a magic system. I enjoyed it a lot.

I have only one complaint. It may be attributed to the fact that I listened to the series vice reading it in print, but there were an overabundance of new characters constantly being introduced. Many times during the series I was like-"wait-who is that guy"? She had a lot of interesting characters to explore, more is bot always better.

again, tho, all the books were worth the purchase.

I LOVE this Author!!

I was really happy to see something, ANYTHING, by this author on Audible, even if it wasn't some of my favorites. I've read a handful by her and liked them very much because the main characters tend to be flawed. I don't really care to read about perfect people, I certainly can't relate, so it's very refreshing. This particular book is a little drawn out. It's still very good and well written; I'd recommend it for anyone who is into this genre.

Paranormal Romance, Worth the Credit

This story was a little confusing at first. It switches back and forth through time. I found the past story much more compelling. The modern story dragged at times. I wish more of that time was spent explaining more mechanics of the world.

The performers were, overall, good. However, the male Narrator left long pauses after his lines. This is particularly hard for me, as I'm extremely ADD. I wound up speeding him

Epic World/Character Building

This is the second time I listened to this audio book. I vastly prefer actually reading, but most of the time I have to multitask.

I liked this a LOT more the second time. The first time I listened to it was right after I listened to another series by the same author and kind of felt like the main characters were the same person. I didn't feel like that AT ALL this time. I think it was just the same Narrator or she sounds similar. For whatever reason, I am loving this series right now.

This is a nice, long fantasy book with lots of attention to detail given to the world and its characters. If you are just looking for the typical paranormal smut, this is not the series for you. It

a story about learning to forgive yourself

I really like the fantasy genre, especially with female characters. I didn't get a lot of options for that growing up.


I also like the romance element added. Now, it seems, any book by a female author is getting published, whether the writing is good or not. Sarah J Maas' books are well written with engaging plots. She also handles the explicit scenes much better than a lot of the cringe-worthy trash out there. I'm enjoying this series a lot and look forward to the next book.
