Historia
Perhaps a common mistake we can make as parents of transgender children is to think that something must be fixed, that we need to say or do something to solve a problem. We might feel stuck in the mud when we see our children suffering and we aren’t able to help them in the way we think would be best. But the truth is, the only thing they want from us is our love and support. In this episode, we add a special guest to the conversation, Bridget's spouse and Jackie's father, Neal Thornhill. We talk about the journey of having a transgender child from a parent's perspective and how Jackie's ...

Historia
Most children can recognize and label stereotypical gender groups between the ages of 18 to 24 months. They also categorize their own gender at about age 3. As gender stereotypes are usually reinforced, kids might choose to behave in the most rewarding way, according to the gender they perceive as the one they should express. Gender and expression are related, and still, gender identity is not always suggestive of a gender expression, and children's gender expression is not always indicative of gender identity. As parents, we must reduce our interference to none and elevate our support to the ...

Historia
Before she became the first transgender person to speak at a national political convention in 2016 at the age of twenty-six, Sarah McBride struggled with the decision to come out—not just to her family but to the students of American University, where she was serving as student body president. She’d known she was a girl from her earliest memories, but it wasn’t until the Facebook post announcing her truth went viral that she realized just how much impact her story could have on the country.

Historia
Julia Serano shares her experiences and insights - both pre- and post-transition - to reveal the ways in which fear, suspicion, and dismissiveness toward femininity shape our societal attitudes toward trans women, as well as gender and sexuality as a whole. Serano's well-honed arguments and pioneering advocacy stem from her ability to bridge the gap between the often-disparate biological and social perspectives on gender. In this provocative manifesto, she exposes how deep-rooted the cultural belief is that femininity is frivolous, weak, and passive.

Loved the book all our stories are fascinating. This was very intriguing because I didn't know what the hell I was or what was wrong with me. I have an uncle how somehow had her appearance on Phil Donahue on a disc and he showed it to me. it was like a bomb went off and I was like oh my God that's me this is what I am. since indirectly I am part of Caroline Cossey story and Caroline Cossey is part of my story and basically the reason why I'm alive The book was very very interesting as her journey is that in 2021 I could never relate to. She is brave courageous in one fine woman

Historia
What do you do when, just before Thanksgiving at your mother's, your 14-year-old son asks you to iron the dress he recently purchased and plans to wear? Listeners learn the answer and much more in this wonderfully frank, loving, and practical account of parenting a transgender teen. Hassouri chronicles what amounts to a dual transition: as her child transitions from male to female, she navigates through anger, denial, and grief to eventual acceptance. Despite her experience advising other parents in her work as a pediatrician, she was blindsided by her child's gender identity.

Truthful
Revisado: 03-11-21
I'm a Trans Woman. I had some difficulty in the early part of the book due to No.s word choices and attitude. I'm glad I kept listening because I come from a family that struggles with my gender identity. This book gave me insight from the perspective of a skeptical of non understanding Caregivers. I was able to make a call to someone who struggles and start an unlocking conversation. It also helped me understand the view of my journey from my families eyes. I'm able to start the process of letting the why go.
I appreciate the writers truthfulness which was cleansing for me with my not so distant past.
Paris Hassouri is an asset for our community and her daughter is wonderful, strong, courageous and Beautiful.
I definitely Recommend giving Found In Transition a listen and please use it a a resource.

But as they grew older, their preferences began to show, and by the age of three it was clear Georgie was drawn to anything that was pretty or had a skirt that could swirl. Before long Georgie began to insist that she was a girl and became distressed that she had to hide who she really was when she started school. Soon the bullying started, and she would come home in floods of tears, begging her mother to help her.

Was read so we'll. I understand that we trans folks are all different. Jennifer is a overachiever myself a underachiever but we intersect in so many ways even if we are so different. Jennifer caused me be proud of who I am as prior to listening life dealt me some devastating blows. We're not alone we are there for each other. This was what I needed to hear. Jen may never know it but she kept me in the game when I wanted to give up & in. this read is more than worth it.
