Excellent book!
Revisado: 10-29-24
Not too thrilled with how Holly turned out in this one but screw politics. It’s a good book. I felt that the Trump voters weren’t given proper representation although there’s half the country that would disagree. That’s all. Not all Trump voters are anti-VAX, and not all thought Covid was a hoax.

Historia
In a matter of weeks, Massachusetts has been overrun by an insidious rabies-like virus that is spread by saliva. But unlike rabies, the disease has a terrifyingly short incubation period of an hour or less. Those infected quickly lose their minds and are driven to bite and infect as many others as they can before they inevitably succumb. Hospitals are inundated with the sick and dying, and hysteria has taken hold. To try to limit its spread, the commonwealth is under quarantine and curfew. But society is breaking down and the government's emergency protocols are faltering.

Historia
Raised in the wilderness by her late great-uncle, Vida is a young woman with an almost preternatural affinity for nature, especially for the wolves that also call the forested mountains home. Formed by hard experience, by love and loss, and by the prophecies of a fortuneteller, Vida just wants peace. If only nearby Kettleton County didn’t cast such a dark shadow.

Historia
The West Texas desert towns of Inferno and Bordertown have been slowly dying. The Snake River isn’t the only thing that divides them. Racism and gang wars have turned the sun-scorched flatlands into a powder keg. If anything can unite them now, it’s the UFO that comes crashing through the clouds. It brings with it a young alien named Daufin, a fugitive who has taken human form. She knows the terror that awaits this planet—because it’s looking for her.

This book is amazing enough that I decided to reread it years later. It is still just as gripping and suspenseful as the first time I read it.

Good book but I don’t like the commentary directed at the reader explaining plot devices
Revisado: 02-13-24
The book was overall a great read. However, Dean Koontz has taken to writing pointless commentary, directed at the reader, explaining plot devices, etc. at least in this book.

Revisado: 06-17-23
As far as the storyline in the book, I gave them a five star rating. Their performance, I gave a one star rating. She is horrible at pronunciations, and does not do male voices well at all. This narrator definitely needs work!

Historia
Based on the true story of Alexander Selkirk, who survived alone for almost five years on an uninhabited island off the coast of Chile, The Mysterious Island is considered by many to be Jules Verne’s masterpiece. “Wide-eyed mid-nineteenth-century humanistic optimism in a breezy, blissfully readable translation by Stump” (Kirkus Reviews), here is the enthralling tale of five men and a dog who land in a balloon on a faraway, fantastic island of bewildering goings-on and their struggle to survive....

Overall, I like the entire story. I did not like how he referenced his own book however, and brought in a character that didn’t precisely seem to fit the story fully. Other than that the book is awesome and well written.

Good narration, and performance, but not his best. It has what I’d call and anticlimactic and some what predictable ending.
Revisado: 12-05-22
Story doesn’t grab the attention through the first parts. Toward the end it does, but then the end is kind of a letdown. Anticlimactic is how I would describe it.
