Historia
Eighteen-year-old Aidan Salt isn't a superhero. With his powerful (and unpredictable) telekinetic abilities, he could be one if he wanted to, but he doesn't. He's unambitious, selfish, and cowardly, and he doesn't want to have to deal with all the paperwork required to become a professional superhero. But since the money, fame, and women that come with wearing the cape are appealing, he decides to become the first supervillain the world has seen in more than 20 years: Apex Strike.

Juvenile and simplistic
Revisado: 10-11-23
The premise would have been interesting, except -
The main character is an immature jerk who stares at the female characters boobs all the time. Somehow they all want to have sex with him even though he’s in high school and some of them are old enough to be his mother.
And of course he succeeds in everything and is worshiped by others for his amazing deeds.
Good for a light read if you don’t mind casual sexism and very unrealistic portrayals of women and relationships.

Too Interesting - Did not make me sleep
Revisado: 11-29-22
This is in the Audible sleep collection, but it failed to put me to sleep. It is soothing to listen to his voice, but the content was interesting and it was a short piece so I did not fall asleep.
I would appreciate a more in-depth version of this story.
If it was not in the sleep collection my score would be higher.

Criminal Minds, real criminal minds
Revisado: 04-22-18
This book was written in 1991 and it is amazing to hear how the author worked to understand serial killers and implement computer systems to link violent crimes across borders.
I wonder if the author watches the criminal crime shows on today and laughs. He is the reason they exist. He is the reason their computer systems exist. He is the reason why the public took notice.
It is a cursory overview of the birth of the BSU of the FBI and a fun look into the motives of some of the most notorious serial killers from someone who was active in their cases and in studying their crimes first hand. The book won’t teach you to profile or go into a lot of detail about each case, but it is a satisfying listen.

Historia
From the author of the international best seller The Stone Man, short-listed for Audible UK's Book of the Year Award 2015. Here are the rules. Method: you can't use a gun. You can't use explosives. You can't use poison. It has to be up close and personal. You don't have to worry about leaving evidence; that will be taken care of. Victim: no one suicidal. No one over the age of 65. No one with a terminal illness. Choose your method. Choose your victim.

Intriguing and imaginative
Revisado: 07-21-17
This book, like all Luke Smitherd books, has an intriguing premise and excellent execution. While diving deep into the main characters thought process and reasoning, the narrative takes the reader (and main character) into creepy and dangerous situations that never turn out as expected. It is a book that will leave you thinking what you would do and all the options you would consider if it was you in the situation instead. Thank you once again Mr. Smitherd for your unique stories and intelligent analysis of human behaviour and reactions! I can't wait to see what you come up with next ...

Ok book but odd choice of narrator
Revisado: 02-17-17
The book was an oral history and the insights were interesting however the narrator pronounced names and catchphrases as if he had never heard them before. For a book about how the Simpsons catchphrases have become part of our vernacular and the characters iconic in global culture it was jarring to have the narrator mispronounce character names and use wrong inflections.
