I’m not like those other freaks. The kids who can look inside your head and bring your nightmares to life. The weirdos who can steal your luck or make a thing true just by wishing it. The outliers born from the mess that followed Armageddon. The ones you call Moonflowers, half mockingly and half afraid. They’re the mistakes that humanity hates - and needs. I’m not like them. I’m worse. And I’m the only thing standing between you and the legions of heaven and hell. (Petal - The Armageddon-Lite Archives)

Shadowrun meets Lucifer Well done.
Revisado: 08-31-20
This was very good. I received this book for free to review, and frankly I didn’t expect much. I knew the narration would be good, but I wasn’t sure about the subject. I was VERY pleasantly surprised. The characters are well played, and the story wasn’t obvious at all. In fact I was a little worried that it didn’t have much in the way of story and then you realize it was building. The beginning your introduced to the world and the characters, but by the end, I really wanted more. I will be buying book 2 when it comes out.

Fish out of water meets standard fantasy
Revisado: 07-27-20
I really enjoyed this book. It started out fairly different than most fantasy books, kind of a fish out of water story. Then it settled in to your standard Fantasy tale. There wasn’t a lot to surprise the reader, but it was still nice to follow along, like a comfy blanket. I was rather surprised at the feminisms in the middle. It had a chance to do the same “when boy does something it’s expected, woman can’t” but it called that trope out, and I was happily surprised. Narrated does a decent job and changing tone and characters, but sometimes I had a hard time telling if it was. Steve, or his friend talking. Overall. I would recommend.(note I was supplied a copy by the author)

Historia
Stag Maguire, a burnt-out journalist , agrees to help a friend move. They find an urgent message - HELP ME - written on a piece of silk tacked behind a long-forgotten portrait. The message from an address in Berlin is urgent, though it had to have been written pre-World War II. Curious, Stag and his friend trace it to an apartment, a sealed time capsule that has not been lived in since 1942. And from one phone call, the men unleash a nefarious plot and brutal security forces long thought vanquished. Stag finds himself pitted against a vestige of the Third Reich....

Awsome narration, very basic story
Revisado: 06-01-20
The story is your basic stock thriller with bits of history thrown in. It is feels like the authors first book. This means you will find the standard thriller tropes, and inconsistencies. That said the narrator makes the characters come to life as the author did not. Each character is distinct and the only time I had trouble following was due to the chapters blending together. I would definitely get another book read by Mr. Hawkins.
