Historia
Why is it so hard to make lasting changes in our companies, in our communities, and in our own lives? The primary obstacle is a conflict that's built into our brains, say Chip and Dan Heath, authors of the critically acclaimed best seller Made to Stick. Psychologists have discovered that our minds are ruled by two different systems - the rational mind and the emotional mind - that compete for control. The rational mind wants a great beach body; the emotional mind wants that Oreo cookie.

this book would have been really interesting if I were right out of highschool or as soon as it came out. but listening to it now just feels like going back a step. But I also studied psychology so maybe someone with less knowledge of the field and has no idea what "hidden brain" is might find this book useful.

Historia
Two of the boldest and most creative scientists of all time were Michael Faraday (1791-1867) and James Clerk Maxwell (1831-1879). This is the story of how these two men - separated in age by 40 years - discovered the existence of the electromagnetic field and devised a radically new theory which overturned the strictly mechanical view of the world that had prevailed since Newton's time.

I'm definitely on team Faraday
Revisado: 04-13-22
Going into this book as someone who has no educational background in any advance sciences I found it fairly easy to follow and very interesting. I noticed that I could relate more with Faraday and his experimental spirit than the studiousness of Maxwell. The first half of the book flew by, then once it started talking about Maxwell I lost interest for a while as they talked about his early life. Although as soon as they got back to the theories of electricity I couldn't put it down! for anyone interested in electricity I would highly recommend this one.

Revisado: 03-15-22
Here is one of those books that not only teaches valuable life lessons but also has the power to sync your mindset into one of progress and growth. I'm at the point where I don't even pay attention to the words anymore, I already know most of them by heart. Now when I listen to it my mind wanders to my own problems and just the sound of Peter Senge talking about improvement stimulates my mind and helps me to solve a lot of my problems in a unique way.

Revisado: 12-04-21
This book was awesome! who would have thought the key to success is being famous... The first half of this book was really interesting full of new information and useful knowledge. The s cond half was more of how this knowledge is flawed and not necessarily immutable, which I didn't find as interesting.

Historia
Hailed as one of the world’s masterpieces of psychological realism, The Death of Ivan Ilyich is the story of a worldly careerist, a high-court judge who has never given the inevitability of his death so much as a passing thought. But one day death announces itself to him, and to his shocked surprise he is brought face-to-face with his own mortality. How, Tolstoy asks, does an unreflective man confront his one and only moment of truth?

How will you look back on your life?
Revisado: 08-14-21
This book was profound. It really reminded me that life is short and at the end when we are on our deathbed, looking back at all the mistakes we thought we made and all the things we regret, we still did them, we still lived them. There is no "right" way to live. We all try our best. All of our experiences that we did or didn't do are who we are, and we can't change our past, but we can guide our future.
Death is something we will all experience and when we are in that final moment, when we can no longer guide our future how do we want to look back? Are we condemned to see a miserable life thinking of all the mistakes we made and all the things we never got to do. Or do we want to look back and see all the happiness we experienced and all the love we were fortunate enough to have been able to take part in.
Life is short, live happily.

Historia
The French Revolution casts a long shadow, one that reaches into our own time and influences our debates on freedom, equality, and authority. Yet it remains an elusive, perplexing historical event. Its significance morphs according to the sympathies of the viewer, who may see it as a series of gory tableaux, a regrettable slide into uncontrolled anarchy - or a radical reshaping of the political landscape. In this riveting new book, Ian Davidson provides a fresh look at this vital moment in European history. He reveals how it was an immensely complicated and multifaceted revolution....

The French revolution was a lot more turbulent than I was let to believe. The French was a little difficult to follow but after some Google translate I was able to follow along fairly quickly.

The narrorator sounds like a cop
Revisado: 06-23-21
The information in the book is good, pretty standard stuff for anyone who knows about growing. But don't trust this guy's pronunciation. You can tell this narrorator has never smoked weed in his life. "make sure to check the trick-combs to see when it is time to harvest your crop of in-deka marijuana."
