Military Sci-fi. more military than sci-fi
Revisado: 04-28-25
I liked the science fiction part but there wasn't enough. If you're into all the excruciating detail of guns, ammunition and ops strategies, well this book is for you. If you prefer more sci-fi details, take a pass. I also found the characters and story predictable. I fast forwarded through much of this thinking there has to be more. I like this author overall, but will think twice before getting another title from him.

Not believable
Revisado: 09-21-22
I love Harlan Coben, usually. In this case , there were several things that were frustrating.
1) I listened at 1.20 and still had to skip through it. I felt it was too wordy. This could have been a 6 hour book instead of a 12 hour book.
2) The plot strained to be believable.
3) The resolution of the characters seemed handy, not clever, like I'm used to.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Everyone loves this one...but not me
Revisado: 09-07-22
I listened at 1.10 speed and still had to skip. The middle and the trial was slow and predictable. I knew who "did it" right away and the path to the end was just too tedious.

Just could not get into it.
Revisado: 04-24-22
This seemed like just lots of killing, blood and gore in standard zombie novel. I kept waiting for it to get more interesting.

Historia
In Metsan Valo, her family home on Lake Superior, Anni Halla’s beloved grandmother has died. Among her fond memories, what Anni remembers most vividly is her grandmother’s eerie yet enchanting storytelling. By firelight she spun tall tales of spirits in the nearby forest and waters who could heal - or harm - on a whim. But of course those were only stories.

Ok but pretty predictable
Revisado: 10-18-21
I found the story pretty predictable. If you like forest fairys etc. you might find this interesting. Without telling you the ending, I felt it was not an interesting resolution. As well, as ther are a couple of plot twists that are added, it's seems, just to fix loose ends.
The performance is good. I liked the main character.
