Good but…
Revisado: 08-04-24
It’s a lot of fun! You can tell that this book was traditionally published vs the 1st book. The only reason it doesn’t have five stars is the Phantom. I hate him and I know that’s the point but I really hated him. I would internally groan whenever he showed up.

Historia
Emma Carpenter lives in isolation with her golden retriever Laika, house-sitting an old beachfront home on the rainy Washington coast. Her only human contact is her enigmatic old neighbor, Deek, and (via text) the house’s owner, Jules. One day, she reads a poorly written—but gruesome—horror novel by the author H. G. Kane, and posts a one-star review that drags her into an online argument with none other than the author himself. Soon after, disturbing incidents start to occur at night.

Historia
Anna does boring things for terrible people because even criminals need office help and she needs a job. Working for a monster lurking beneath the surface of the world isn’t glamorous. But is it really worse than working for an oil conglomerate or an insurance company? In this economy? A sharp, witty, modern debut, Hench explores the individual cost of justice through a fascinating mix of millennial office politics, heroism measured through data science, body horror, and a profound misunderstanding of quantum mechanics.

Why
Revisado: 02-12-21
The narrator is like a nails on a chalkboard, I don’t understand why. Also the story was a confusing let down. Chapters are way too long and jumps ahead a lot which threw me through a loop a few times. I just wish it was better because I really wanted to like it.

Historia
Samantha Heather Mackey couldn't be more of an outsider in her small, highly selective MFA program at New England's Warren University. A scholarship student who prefers the company of her dark imagination to that of most people, she is utterly repelled by the rest of her fiction writing cohort—a clique of unbearably twee rich girls who call each other "Bunny", and seem to move and speak as one. But everything changes when Samantha receives an invitation to the Bunnies' fabled "Smut Salon"....

Surprising
Revisado: 06-17-20
Since we are currently facing a pandemic ourselves, this story gives me a sense of hope that it will be okay. The performance was stellar. The chapters are short so it’s very easy to binge in one sitting. The ending is a little muddy but didn’t kill the enjoyment of reading it. If your still bored at home, give it a shot!

Between mysterious disappearances and sudden deaths, the guests of the Titanic have found themselves suspended in an eerie, unsettling twilight zone from the moment they set sail. Several of them, including maid Annie Hebley, guest Mark Fletcher, and millionaires Madeleine Astor and Benjamin Guggenheim, are convinced there's something sinister - almost otherwordly - afoot. But before they can locate the source of the danger, as the world knows, disaster strikes.

It just wasn't for me. I love a good ghost story but this book reminds too much of The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw except this was 12 hours longer than that.
