Historia
The long years of near-utopia have come to an abrupt end. Peace and order are now figments of the past. Corruption, deception, and insurgency hum within the once steadfast leadership of the Hives, nations without fixed location. The heartbreaking truth is that for decades, even centuries, the leaders of the great Hives bought the world's stability with a trickle of secret murders, mathematically planned. So that no faction could ever dominate. So that the balance held.

Revisado: 12-06-21
By far the strongest of Ada’a writing, yet and that is saying something after the last book. The reading should be rewarded. Such a deep and satisfying book and performance.

A great book to help you understand why music may matter so much to you (and maybe not so much for others.)

Historia
All Systems Red is the tense first science fiction adventure novella in Martha Wells' series The Murderbot Diaries. For fans of Westworld, Ex Machina, Ann Leckie's Imperial Raadch series, or Iain M. Banks' Culture novels. The main character is a deadly security droid that has bucked its restrictive programming and is balanced between contemplative self-discovery and an idle instinct to kill all humans.

Wow, didn’t realize this have me laughing so much. What a great take on the POV from a robot/cyborg/android (?). Plenty of suspense, and action packed in here too. Already downloading the sequels

Best one yet?
Revisado: 02-06-18
It’s a crazy thought but I think this is my favorite book of the series. Of course, that would mean that both book 1 and book 3 are in my top 10 list of all time. Book 2 was so satisfying to have answers from book 1. This one rises from off the shoulders of those two books. T.Ryder Smith seems more involved in this one, too. A really excellent job by him.

A rich and entertaining story, Lagoon, reminds me of my favorite Twilight Zone stories. Fascinating writing about how we as people react to change in our world, our cites, our lives. Wonderful descriptions, dialogue and great pacing make this book a great joy to read. I am excited to read more of her work! Huge shout out the performers. I would have not gotten the full richness of the dialects had I read the print version.

Historia
John Perry did two things on his 75th birthday. First he visited his wife's grave. Then he joined the army. The good news is that humanity finally made it into interstellar space. The bad news is that planets fit to live on are scarce—and alien races willing to fight us for them are common. So: we fight. To defend Earth, and to stake our own claim to planetary real estate. Far from Earth, the war has been going on for decades: brutal, bloody, unyielding. Earth itself is a backwater.

Not bad.
Revisado: 11-03-17
Fun writing style and some interesting concepts here. I wish he would have spent more time on some of the deeper themes about war and lost love. Maybe that would’ve made the book less fun for some but I personally would have been more invested in the book had he done that. I would give another book of his a try.

Corta Hélio, one of the five family corporations that rule the moon, has fallen. Its riches are divided up among its many enemies, its survivors scattered. Eighteen months have passed. The remaining Hélio children, Lucasinho and Luna, are under the protection of the powerful Asamoahs, while Robson, still reeling from witnessing his parents' violent deaths, is now a ward - virtually a hostage - of Mackenzie Metals. And the last appointed heir, Lucas, has vanished from the surface of the moon.

Just when it was getting good
Revisado: 06-28-17
Felt a little sluggish in the middle but like the last book the ending is exciting and captivating.
There are plenty of scenes to make you blush in this one, more than the first book. This book is so not SFW.
A strange bonus from this book is the best description of how cakes are made. If the first book made you never look at the moon the same then this one will make you look at cakes the same.
Good follow up to the last book. Ian is really teasing us with a GOT like saga here. A little frustrating with the pacing but overall I liked it.

Historia
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

That was fun
Revisado: 04-09-17
A really fun, laugh out loud book. The book moves at a great pace and is packed with action, humor and great dialogue.
I see the comparison with star ship troopers, but it breaks that mold in a clever way. Actually there seems to be a few nods to older science fiction. At points I feel like it was going to fall into some out dated cliches but thankfully doesn't.

Historia
In a future of near-instantaneous global travel, of abundant provision for the needs of all, a future in which no one living can remember an actual war, a long era of stability threatens to come to an abrupt end. For known only to a few, the leaders of the great Hives, nations without fixed location, have long conspired to keep the world stable, at the cost of just a little blood. A few secret murders, mathematically planned. So that no faction can ever dominate, and the balance holds. And yet the balance is beginning to give way.

Revisado: 03-25-17
A different reader was something to get used to but it is done very well.
The story itself reveals many of the mysteries put forth in the first book. You might actually want to reread the first book so can enjoy all background and reveals in Seven Surrenders.
Really looking forward to more books in this series no matter who reads it!
