I Wish this Was Real!
Revisado: 08-05-24
I bought this series because as a real life totally blind person, I am fascinated by how sighted authors portray the blind. I also love games, so I thought it would be a good fit. I know that there is some VR technology that does exist, but to my knowledge, nothing like this exists. I hope it will in my lifetime. I’d be a constant player. The series is well written, the characters and play style fascinating, and the narrator superb. Well worth the credit or cash.

Another masterful novel from Annie Taylor.
Revisado: 03-29-24
I loved this story. It was gripping from almost the beginning. I found the narrator’s performance to be adequate, however. A couple of the recurring characters are Scottish and the narrator’s Scottish accent was abysmal. I’d rather, if a person cannot do an accent, that they do not try, rather than butchering it. Or better yet, find a narrator who can do the accents of the characters, though I understand this might not be appropriate due to series continuity. Still and all, I loved the story. Will definitely be reading book 3.

Historia
It was summer in the mountains when five small children vanished from their nursery school picnic. The heat was stifling that day, the tinkle of an ice-cream van in the air.... Three-and-a-half years later, in the dead of winter, the children are returned to their families...one by one. All except for Ivy - the granddaughter of Homicide Detective Kate Wakeland. The other four children say Ivy is dead.

Excellent book. Excellent performance!
Revisado: 03-29-24
This book was masterfully written. I was a bit hesitant to start it, as I had read another book by the author and, though I liked the book enough to find out what happened to the characters, I did not consider it to be good enough to keep. This book was different, however. It hooked me from the very beginning. The narrator’s performance was first rate. I will definitely be reading more by this author.

Historia
In this harrowing New York Times best seller, Ann Rule is at her masterful best as she winnows horrific truths from the ashes of what seemed like paradise in Prairie Village, Kansas. Rule probes the case of Debora Green, a doctor and a loving mother who seemed to epitomize the dreams of the American heartland. A small-town girl with a genius IQ, she achieved an enviable life. But when a raging fire destroyed that home and took two lives, the trail of clues led investigators to a stunning conclusion.

First Ann Rule Listen!
Revisado: 03-24-24
For years now, I have been an avid reader of true crime and it quite surprised me when I realised that I had never read an Ann Rule book before. The book I thought I had read when I mistook for Rule’s work, was really the work of a different person. I am in love with this story. The characters are richly drawn, the plot is very detailed and even though this is not a novel, it comes across as though it could have been a good one. I will definitely find more books by Ann Rule to check out soon.

When the Truth Destroys Instead of Heals
Revisado: 02-21-24
I loved this book. It was fast paced and full of surprises. This book is one that reminds us that the people we know the best, we don’t really know at all, and sometimes, the truth doesn’t bring healing as we’d expect, or at least, not before some very deep wounds are open. Definitely worth the credit!

Historia
My darling little boy Albie adores playing at our new neighbours’ house. And after the terrible year we’ve had, I feel so lucky that we can start over in this perfect place, with new friends who treat Albie like the son they never had. He can’t stop talking about the tree house they’re building him, and the cookies they bake together. But as time passes, something starts to feel wrong. Why don’t they ever open the front door more than a crack? They told me they had no children so who does the small pink tricycle I saw in their hall belong to?

Excellent, but…
Revisado: 02-21-24
This was an excellent book which was typical of K. L. Slater. It has lots of twists that I did not expect and I was forever trying to figure out what was really going on up at the mansion house. The main character was extremely whiny however, and at times, I actually hated her.

Historia
On opening day of the new baseball season a small model-kit airplane flies down from the stands and buzzes the mound, where a decorated veteran pilot is about to throw out the first ball. The toy plane is the exact replica of the one flown by the war hero. Everyone laughs, thinking it's a prank or a publicity stunt. Until it explodes, killing dozens. Seconds later a swarm of killer drones descend upon the picnicked crowd, each one carrying a powerful bomb. All across the country artificial intelligence drive systems in cars, commuter trains and even fighter planes go out of control.

Not my favourite, but certainly worth the listen
Revisado: 12-02-23
I love this series. The characters are fantastic, Porter does an excellent job as the narrator and…who could dislike a book with two bad ass dogs? Still, in many ways, this book fell flat. It seems the DMS were always caught flat footed, and whilst I’d expect that to happen on occasion, not every! Single! Time!

Historia
Every expectant parent will tell you that they don't want a perfect baby, just a healthy one. Charlotte and Sean O'Keefe would have asked for a healthy baby, too, if they'd been given the choice. Instead their lives are made up of sleepless nights, mounting bills, the pitying stares of "luckier" parents, and, maybe worst of all, the what-ifs.

Engaging
Revisado: 09-07-22
This book was grand. A real fun read. Kept me engaged almost from page one. The character development was impressive. The protagonist is flawed but likeable and the mental issues are a nice change from the normally put together hero.
The narration was also spot on. Loved it. Will definitely be reading more of this series.

Historia
Steeplechase jockey Derek Franklin has had more broken bones than he cares to count, but it seems his latest injury could very well bring his days on the race course to a screeching halt. But that’s the least of his concerns when his brother turns up dead, leaving Derek as the sole inheritor of his estate. It doesn’t take long for Derek to learn that his brother—a magistrate who imported and sold semiprecious stones—was keeping more than his share of secrets.

The Master Does It Again!
Revisado: 08-28-22
This is one of my favourite Dick Francis novels and I was so glad to see that it has now come to Audible since you can no longer listen to it on YouTube. Francis’s plots are twisty, his way of thinking leaves you feeling dazed, yet you know and can fully grasp every move the characters make and why they make them. The narrator is not the best at reading Francis’s books, but he certainly doesn’t disgrace himself.
