Historia
In the 1970s, against the backdrop of the explosive Watergate scandal, Charles Colson revealed the story of his own search for meaning during the tumultuous investigations that led to the collapse of the Nixon administration. A convicted former special counsel to the president, Colson paradoxically found new life - not with success and power, but while in national disgrace and serving a prison sentence.

Fantastic.

This is a powerful and engaging account of Chuck Colson’s Watergate odyssey. I waited way too long to read it, but found it perfectly relevant these fifty years on.

Historia
Charles Dudley Warner was an essayist, novelist, and friend of Mark Twain. My Summer in a Garden is a landmark of American garden writing. In the book, Warner chronicles his work in the garden, where he and his cat, Calvin, try to ward off a stream of invaders, from the neighbors' cows and thieving children, to the pusley weed. He makes the rounds of his beloved vegetable patch, to feel the sun on his back, the hoe in his hands, and to ponder the philosophical implications of contact with the earth, and companionship with gently growing things.

Hilarious

This is a funny, true story. The story was serialized in the newspaper over 150 years ago. The narrator, however, seems genuinely unaware that she’s reading a humorous book. :-/

Historia
Often times, the people who love the hurting also struggle in their own unique ways. They tend to suffer in silence and without much support from others. Writing from the unique perspective of one who needs extra help on a daily basis, Dave Furman offers insight into the support, encouragement, and wisdom that people need when helping others. Furman draws on his own life experiences, examples from the Bible, and wisdom from Christians throughout history to address the heart and ministry of those who are called to serve others.

Practical information I can put to good use
Revisado: 10-09-20
This book was full of practical information along the lines of Nancy Guthrie’s book on grief. I listened to the Christian audio recording but will buy the book and would recommend reading the book rather than listening as the recording was off-puttingly sappy. But the information is excellent.

Historia
What if you could travel anywhere, whether Europe, South America, or the remote reaches of the African continent? And what if you could choose not only your destination, but your era, as well-so that you might choose from the sparkling court society of 18th-century France, a 19th-century whaling ship out of New Bedford, or the streets of Dublin in the early part of the 20th century?

I really enjoyed this course. The professor’s insights were interesting and intelligent. I feel that because I listened to this I have a better understanding of literature as a whole. He was also easy to understand. I didn’t have to rewind to catch a word or idea.
