I don’t often write reviews, but I am making a point to recommend this book. Not only this book, but this author. She always delivers. This story had multiple levels with side plots that drew me in. I usually don’t suffer angst in stories that I know will likely conclude with a happy ending, but this story kept me constantly fretting over the main characters. The only disappointment I felt was that there wasn’t an epilogue. I wanted a glimpse into the happily ever after for all the characters. If you enjoy this genre, you will love this book.

There are two things I disliked about this experience. First was the audio. It was painstakingly slow and droll. When I sped it up to 1.2x it helped immensely! And the story was well worth the effort.
The second thing I disliked was I felt like the author rushed the kissing scenes and missed an opportunity to do them justice by not giving Oliver a voice I’m those moments. I also felt it was missing an epilogue.

As for the story itself, it held some deep emotions that may trigger readers who are products of abusive parental relationships. Oliver’s background made him 3 dimensional—something that is often missing in main characters of romance novels. The story itself is well-written and the characters are relatable and lovable. Once I was well into the story, I could not put it down.

This latest book by Author Josi S. Kilpack is a novel I am proud to recommend to readers who enjoy the Regency romance genre.

I just finished reading this, and I am already on pins and needles for the next book in the series. Daisies and Devotion follows Primrose and Promises, which I also thoroughly enjoyed. Honestly, I thought it would be difficult to top P & P, but this story was equally great, perhaps, dare I say it, even better.

The first thing that grabbed me in this story was that it parallels a story from my own life, and Kilpack captured the emotions I experienced beautifully. I love the way she writes her characters as strong, yet vulnerable, intelligent, yet humble, and lovable, yet flawed. In short, they are real and relatable.

Another aspect I wholly appreciate is that, as with Primrose and Promises, Daisies and Devotion does not follow the traditional pattern so common in Regency romances, which may be one of many reasons that the plot is so moving and memorable. This book is fresh, fun, and captivating. Readers will care deeply about the characters, and will not want the story to end.

For all you regency romance fans who appreciate clean and compelling entertainment, this book will not disappoint. I wholeheartedly recommend that you put Daisies and Devotion on your “to read” list.

Happy reading :-)

This story was interesting and kept me guessing, which is why I stayed with it until the end. However, there really wasn't one likable character in the book. I don't mind flawed characters, in fact I find them endearing and relatable, but every character in this story was just plain messed up. I found it difficult to connect with any of them or to feel empathy or sympathy. In don't think I've ever read a book with so many "I'm sorry"'s and so much self loathing. I do credit this author with giving readers an inside look into the mind of an alcoholic. Scary.
