Historia
In the first full-scale biography of Mary Stuart in more than 30 years, John Guy creates an intimate and absorbing portrait of one of history's most famous women, depicting her world and her place in the sweep of history with stunning immediacy. Bringing together all surviving documents and uncovering a trove of new sources for the first time, Guy dispels the popular image of Mary Queen of Scots as a romantic leading lady - achieving her ends through feminine wiles - and establishes her as the intellectual and political equal of Elizabeth I.

Good book that once you get past the beginning and all the royal lineage stuff was easy to listen to, engaging, and educational!

Great Plot-Needs Editor
Revisado: 09-15-24
This is a great and intriguing plot, but way too long and the dialogue is a bit annoying when read. Should be about 1/2 as long. Glad the first book is free and the second in less than $9.

Historia
On the surface, young Charles had it all: high-society parents, a place at an exclusive New York City prep school, summer vacations in the Adirondacks. But the scrawny teenager suffered from extreme anxiety thanks to a sadistic father who mired the family in bankruptcy and scandal before abandoning Charles and his mother altogether. Charles’s only source of joy was swimming. But with no one to teach him, he struggled with technique—until he caught the eye of two immigrant coaches.

Historia
The end of the Second World War in Europe is one of the 20th century's most iconic moments. It is fondly remembered as a time when cheering crowds filled the streets, danced, drank and made love until the small hours. These images of victory and celebration are so strong in our minds that the period of anarchy and civil war that followed has been forgotten. Across Europe, landscapes had been ravaged, entire cities razed and more than thirty million people had been killed in the war.

Important but difficult
Revisado: 11-09-22
Very informative. My husband who is a WWII buff learned a lot throughout this book. It is a period not often written about or discussed. The reader was easy to listen to. This book was very hard to get through because of the brutality of the period. We had to stop Many times to take a break.

Eileen Collins was an aviation pioneer her entire career, from her crowning achievements as the first woman to command an American space mission as well as the first to pilot the space shuttle to her early years as one of the Air Force's first female pilots. She was in the first class of women to earn pilot's wings at Vance Air Force Base and was their first female instructor pilot. She was only the second woman admitted to the Air Force's elite Test Pilot Program at Edwards Air Force Base.

Book for everyone
Revisado: 10-20-22
I was a bit hesitant to listen to this book because I thought it might be all about accomplishments as a woman. But it was an amazing story with so many good lessons about leadership, hard work, perseverance, and NASA.
The reader mispronounced NASA (as well as a few other words) which was very annoying however the story was worth enduring. I’d encourage the publishers to re-record.
