Wonderful read!

I thoroughly enjoyed this fascinating delve into the darkness that is racial purity. it exposes the depth to which some people think that they are justified to go to uphold what at very least is a lie and at its worst is pure evil.

Great, long, languorous story
Revisado: 01-27-19
This twisting tale melds rich characters and an engaging plot that accompanies you long after listening. Not your standard story - it continues to define Tana French as one of today's best storytellers.

Get It - you'll love It!
Revisado: 04-22-18
Love and death, loyalty and betrayal set in a richly layered world where past habits and the as yet unaccustomed post-Soviet reality is entwined with CIA operatives. Enter a sensitive and gifted ballerina and a disappointing son of a monied Virginian family. This is a listening delight and an intricate tale that refuses to collapse into the predictable clicheès of lesser writers.

Historia
Ralph Elllison's Invisible Man is a monumental novel, one that can well be called an epic of modern American Negro life. It is a strange story, in which many extraordinary things happen, some of them shocking and brutal, some of them pitiful and touching—yet always with elements of comedy and irony and burlesque that appear in unexpected places. It is a book that has a great deal to say and which is destined to have a great deal said about it.

Brillance after a questionable beginning
Revisado: 11-04-17
I was ready to stop listening to this book after the first 5 minutes - it seemed to be no more than the ravings of a madman. But something told me to give it a chance and soldier on. I am so happy that I did.
This is a wonderful novel that explores issues that are as relevant today as they were in 1947 when this novel was written.

Classic James Lee Burke
Revisado: 04-30-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
For all those who love James Lee Burke, this book will not disappoint. In this early novel we get to know the rich characters as well as the distinctive setting which becomes another character whose presence stalks the story of ravaged childhoods and their resultant effects on the lives of the now grown adults. Burke delves beneath the surface of his characters and their lives to explore the complexities of the human heart.A wonderful read!
What did you like best about this story?
I love the details of setting and the attention paid to motivations in the lives of the characters.
What about Mark Hammer’s performance did you like?
Hammer's voice captures the sense of place that is so important to Burke's writing.

Historia
In a New York City fifty years in the future, Detective Eve Dallas tracks down those who break the law - including the ones sworn to uphold it. Eve Dallas and her partner, Peabody, are following up on a brutal, senseless crime - an elderly grocery owner killed by three stoned punks for nothing more than kicks and snacks. And for the first time, Peabody is primary detective on the case, which means she has to get used to a new level of authority and responsibility. Good thing she learned the ropes from a master like Eve. But after rounding up the perps, Peabody stumbles upon a much trickier situation.
