Heart warming and so nostalgic
Revisado: 07-19-24
This was such a great book, it totally remind me of can’t hardly wait and breakfast club and clueless. The struggles of all the characters were so personal and engrossing. You literally felt for each of them. I literally yelled out when Theo said something insensitive to River. I loved the idea that sometimes you have to leave old friendships behind in order to embrace the future. Bravo bravo

A great introduction to future Grand
Revisado: 06-28-24
What a masterful job. It was an awesome touch to see future collaborators thrawn and C booth on the upset side. I loved all the political intrigues in the various higher Archie’s of the various players. I was totally spellbound from beginning to end. I had no idea the machinations of the fallen Jedi c both no wonder his clone was equally as crazy. Great job

Bookstore owner Aubrey Barnes likes his quiet, orderly London life, thank you very much. His shop may be struggling, his only employee is a menace, and his plumbing is one creaky pipe away from disaster, but he can handle it. Maybe. He cannot, however, handle the film company that's thrown his Soho street into chaos. And he definitely can't handle the charismatic American actor Blake Sinclair.

I was really disappointed in this and was hoping to get into this
Revisado: 06-18-24
I really wanted to like this story, but I just couldn’t get into it. The story was ok and the characters were just underwhelming to me. The stellar voice acting can only do so much to save this story.

Historia
The most important issue in a gay man’s life is not “coming out”, but coming to terms with the invalidating past. Despite the progress made in recent years, many gay men still wonder, “Are we better off?” The byproduct of growing up gay in a straight world continues to be the internalization of shame, rejection, and anger - a toxic cocktail that can lead to drug abuse, promiscuity, alcoholism, depression, and suicide.

Doctor, thank you for giving voice to the thoughts in my head
Revisado: 04-07-24
I applaud your deep and reflective analysis of the life and struggles of the gay man. It was like you pulled characters from my and analyzed every faucet of them. As I listened to your soothing voice I got to take stock and reflect on my own character development. Also thank you for bring up the subject that we in age of PREP have forgotten HIV/AIDS. I could really feel the utter dispair and hopelessness that you conveyed in your retelling.

Nate Hargraves is a behind-the-scenes kind of guy. That’s why he dreams of being a songwriter instead of a singer. But things change the summer after junior year as Nate gets ready to fly to South Africa for his cousin’s lavish destination wedding. The trip is bound to be epic. Except—Nate just found out that his ex-boyfriend will be at the reception. Ugh. He does not want to face this one solo.

I was expecting more after the high of Bryson Keller
Revisado: 04-07-24
I must admit I was truly disappointed by this book. This felt like a let down after the engrossing story line of Date me Bryson Keller. I didnt feel the connection with Nate like I Did with Kai. I did appreciate the poignant points about the injustices of apartheid and its utter ridiculousness. Hat off to the voice actor who did a great job playing various characters and their accents.

Historia
Stonebridge High’s resident bad boy, Wesley “Big Mac” Mackenzie, is failing senior year—thanks to his unchecked anger, rowdy friends, and a tendency to ditch his homework for skateboarding and a secret photography obsession. So when his mom drags him to a production of The Nutcracker, Wes isn’t interested at all … until he sees Tristan Monroe. Mr. Nutcracker himself. Wes knows he shouldn’t like Tristan; after all, he’s a ballet dancer, and Wes is as closeted as they come. But when they start spending time together, Wes can’t seem to get Tristan out of his head.

Bravo to this master piece! I applaud this up and coming author. I was equally spellbound by the voice actor and his performance. I literally could not stop listening to this, I wanted to savor every last minute of this story. I loved the cautionary tale of the damage labels can do to us and how our anger and rage can overwhelm us. This novel made me understand how important it is for young men to give voice to their feelings, fears for there is nothing worse than to suffer in silence.

Historia
This is a story about two teens falling in love over a summer that throws everything possible to keep them apart. Max: Chill. Sports. Gay and not a big deal. And a secret: An encounter with an older kid that makes it hard to breathe, one that he doesn't want to think about, ever. Jordan: The opposite of chill. Poetry. His "wives" and the Chandler Mall. Never been kissed and searching for Mr. Right, who probably won't like him anyway. And a secret: A spiraling out of control mother, and the knowledge that he's the only one who can keep the family from falling apart.

Revisado: 03-25-24
As stated earlier these 2 preformances were just outstanding. The different voices each character is given is just pitch perfect. It was a veritable feast for my ears. This story opened up my eyes to how even a gay male can be sexually assaulted. The perspective of a survivor really has really eye opening and refreshing.

A novel of love for the ages
Revisado: 11-27-23
Wow, I am left without words! This was a heartwarming and heartbreaking book of journey and discovery, rebirth and reinvention. These 2 characters and their voice actors stole my heart. I wished this book would never have ended . After listening to “Aristotle and Dante (“both books) and “this is why they hate us” I thought there was nothing else that could touch them, boy was I totally wrong. I loved that the author actually tackled the real problems that male same sex couples have to actual address. The vulgar and direct language only added to the charm and reality of these 2 characters and the overall story

Enrique “Quique” Luna has one goal this summer—get over his crush on Saleem Kanazi by pursuing his other romantic prospects. Never mind that he’s only out to his best friend, Fabiola. Never mind that he has absolutely zero game. And definitely forget the fact that good and kind and, not to mention, beautiful Saleem is leaving LA for the summer to meet a girl his parents are trying to set him up with. Luckily, Quique’s prospects are each intriguing in their own ways.

Revisado: 11-03-23
Man, I am absolutely blown away by everything in this book. I couldn’t stop listening. Aaron Aceves has really hit it out of the park with this debut story! I believe he is taking his rightful place alongside other queer great writers like Baldwin, Benjamin Salrez and countless others. In the area of performance by Alejandro Ruiz, I was absolutely spellbound! His voices and the emotion he conveys of the many characters was literal a feast for my ears! These characters conjured up so many faces and thoughts from my own past. Bravo indeed!

Warning that the Trump presidency presages America’s decline, Max Boot, the political commentator, recounts his extraordinary journey from lifelong Republican to vehement Trump opponent. As nativism, xenophobia, vile racism, and assaults on the rule of law threaten the very fabric of our nation, The Corrosion of Conservatism presents an urgent defense of American democracy.

Nice to hear a classical liberal like Boot
Revisado: 09-18-23
I am unabashed diehard liberal gay black man and I must admit I throughly enjoy Max Boots style of writing. I have read most of his books (savage wars of peace, war made new, invisible armies and most recently I listened to his audiobook on the road not taken). He always tells not only a good story but a hard fought lesson. It was refreshing to hear not only his story but also that he finally acknowledges the stories and experiences of so many ethnic and sexual minorities that for too long have been overlooked. His damning indictment of a movement he once worked for is to be applauded.
