Did not catch my attention

Bought this one from an ad for the series on FB. Really tried to get into it and listen, but found myself bored and drifting off constantly. Seems like something I might have liked as a kid, maybe a good YA sci-fi series, but gave up halfway through (which I almost never do with books). Also I don’t like this particular narrator, particularly doing male voices (she sounded familiar, maybe from the Fifty Shades books?). Not terrible, and I’m sure some people will love it, but not for me.

Good, would have been better unabridged

Interesting story from an interesting guy, but it felt like they chopped a lot of detail for the abridged version. Would have been a much better listen as unabridged. :(

Excellent. Not his top book, though.

This is a very good book, and I'd wholeheartedly recommend it over James Frey's book. (Which just blew up into a big controversy recently, after I'd just happened to listen to both.) I'd say you should read Running with Scissors first, as it's a great book on its own, and an important intro to this one. Magical Thinking is good too, but check out the other two first.

Grandpa Simpson tells the history of physics

My title pretty much sums up how I felt about this one. Don't get me wrong--it's not a bad read. It's reasonably informative and the writing is acceptable. Mostly I was just bored with it, though that was because it was almost all rehashed material for me. I stuck with it because every once in a while the guy says something that is just so unrelated and random (think Grandpa Simpson's rambling stories), I laughed out loud while running on the treadmill. So it was good for a laugh once in a while and I picked up a few new factoids here and there. Not a great popular science book, or a great book at all, but not too bad.

Very interesting and informative.

This was a great listen. The story and world commentary were definitely worth a read. My only complaint is that it was abridged, hence four stars instead of five. If you're listening, Audible, try to get more unabridged books...!
