Picking up where Fall of Giants, the first novel in the extraordinary Century Trilogy, left off, Winter of the World follows its five interrelated families - American, German, Russian, English, and Welsh - through a time of enormous social, political, and economic turmoil, beginning with the rise of the Third Reich, through the great dramas of World War II, and into the beginning of the long Cold War.

Incredibl well researched and thoroughly engaging
Revisado: 07-23-23
I was born in 1944 and my sister in 1941 reading this and re-learning the history my young parents lived and in “Giants“, the times of my grandparents. My great grandparents immigrate from ireland around the time in which “Giants” was written and from what I know, they were neither aristocrats nor quite as destitute as many of the families we learned to love, but definitely hard working people who saved and suffered to get to America. I’m so excited to read the third book in the trilogy.
The reader is likely the best I’ve ever listened to. Not only engaging, but his pronunciation is FLAWLESS. So very appreciated..
I.’ve become a great fan of Ken Follett’s writing since reading “Pillars of the Earth” when it can out and then again recently. Few can make characters come alive, live and breathe and show us pieces of ourselves as Fen Follett does. When I’m finished with the final offering in the trilogy I will likely check out his earlier works of the detective genre. Bravo! Bravo! Ken Follett!

The man, his mission, and his VOICE!
Revisado: 04-17-23
I can’t say that the content doesn’t matter, but what you find out VERY quickly after listening to a few episodes of “The Way I Heard It” is Mike Rowe is passionate about listening to and learning from very diverse people with their own interesting stories and passions, he is passionate enough about people learning a trade that he devotes much of his time and talents to a non-profit that gives dedicated, hard working people who are serious about learning a new skill that will contribute to improving the products and services provided by American companies that he figures out how to raise and give away $1 million in scholarships to future tradesmen and women every so often, and, he loves to write and sing. This very talent and intelligent man who can laugh and cry with his guests and audience is truly worth your time! And. The VOICE! Not just the singing voice, though he and Chuck, his lifelong friend, producer and problem solver harmonize, on their clever “home-written” ditties all the time! Just listen! You’re going to love this great podcast and Mikes Mom! Be prepared to get hooked like I am!

Chad is able to get his point across and Mike and Chuck never fail to bring us great guests who accomplished people and tell stories we haven’t heard before. My favorite podcast, by far! It’s REAL!

Fluff that keeps getting fluffier!
Revisado: 01-06-18
You will love this book if you love predictable, romantic, fanciful fluff! The characters all have names that a mother wanting to be known for her originality would burden her kid with!
Not worth my time and did not live up to its billing...Can’t recommend it to anyone with a thinking, imaginative mind.

Historia
Nabeel Qureshi describes his dramatic journey from Islam to Christianity, complete with friendships, investigations, and supernatural dreams along the way. Providing an intimate window into a loving Muslim home, Qureshi shares how he developed a passion for Islam before discovering, almost against his will, evidence that Jesus rose from the dead and claimed to be God. Unable to deny the arguments but not wanting to deny his family, Qureshi's inner turmoil will challenge Christians and Muslims alike.

So informative, so inspirational!
Revisado: 02-21-15
I truly enjoyed this book. It was a bit rough in the beginning as the terms were foreign to me, but the author/narrator does a great job of not going over the head of even those completely uninformed about Islam, yet not appearing to speak down to those with an understanding of the faith.
This is a compelling book that I encourage people to read as it will challenge or confirm your belief system, whatever it is,
I'm left with the beauty of this man's love of his family and his friends. He was raised in a very loving family and it gave him great character and a foundation for the scholarly search that was his journey. I was struck by how few Muslims have actually read the Quran, not unlike many Christians have never read the Bible, but rely on others to tell them what is in it. Queues hi points to the fundamental belief system underlying Islam being honor and shame while guilt is not a concept easily grasped in that faith. As well, that the path to Heaven is through good works. That doing I'll can be overcome with good works and may be acceptable if the ends require it.
As a follower of Jesus, I believe this book is essential to understand the backdrop of our times!
