I first watched the movies from the 70s and really enjoyed them. I enjoyed this book a lot wish the others were available on audible.

The story is interesting, and I think if another author had the story, it could have been amazing. However, it's okay at best. Wanting to know how things shake out is the only thing that's gotten me as far as book 2, but the main characters are pretty 1 dimensional and surface level, real grief isn't explored, everything is just a la croix representation of wjat it could be.
It can also be annoying with the digs at other religions being invalid like most Catholics not being raptured, the new pope in leauge with the antichrist, the orthodox jews at the wailing wall being ridiculed, a muslim man shooting up a crowd, etc. Also, 2 of the main characters at their big age are surprisingly virgins.
I get it's a book about the Chrisitian end of the world, but it's just takes the enjoyment out of the story. (Coming from someone who is non-religious). Take it for what it is don't expect too much. I'd love if this series was rewritten with a more objective author not trying to prove a point.

Okay, so this review won't give you much about the actual story because I didn't get far at all. I need to make it known that I LOVE R.C. Bray and I love post-apocalyptic and survival books but this one was just not doing it for me. R.C. Bray tries to mimic a British accent here and fails horribly. He goes in and out of the accent which is super distracting to me and I would have just preferred if he read it naturally despite the book being set in Britain.
Secondly, the story was so-so. The book tried to go for playful banter between the character but it comes off as immature and tedious. I didn't get very far because I'm not someone to continue to read or listen to a book I'm not vibing well with. If the story does get better then I probably will never find out.
