Historia
In June 1993, a group of young guerilla filmmakers spent four weeks making Horror Movie, a notorious, disturbing, art-house horror flick. The weird part? Only three of the film’s scenes were ever released to the public, but Horror Movie has nevertheless grown a rabid fanbase. Three decades later, Hollywood is pushing for a big budget reboot.

Great!
Revisado: 06-29-24
No spoilers but the only complaint I have is the page turning sound effect was overused. The story, while I wouldn’t call this horror, was unsettling. I was constantly trying to figure out where it was going, and I was surprised where we ended up. This is a book I will have to listen to again to pick up all the clues.

Title of this review says it all. It’s about as close to a five as I have ever listened to. Still prefer Will Patton for a SK book but this guy is pretty good as well.

Perfect
Revisado: 04-05-24
I absolutely loved this book. I picked it up at Barnes and Noble and read it a couple years ago. I stumbled across it on audible and decided to give it a listen. I think it was just about as perfect as neo-noir can be. I wanted to smack Keegan at every little mistake and give I’m a shake! It’s worth your time if you like noir, neo-noir, or crime stories.

But she’s always been haunted by the feeling that it could’ve been her. And the worst part is, January’s killer has never been brought to justice.

Voice actors saved this Book
Revisado: 03-19-24
I’m gonna be straight honest. I did not like this book. And I very rarely find nothing I like about a story. I knew the killer from the beginning and the late addition by the author of a new character didn’t fool me. And the ending was awful.
The shining spot in this book was the voice acting by the two actors. They were amazing. If the book had been better I would have loved this audiobook.
Unless you really want a fictionalized version of the JonBenet Ramsey case you can pass. I will not listen to anything else by this author but I would listen to the actors again.

Great story
Revisado: 03-08-24
I was looking for something to listen to, I hadn’t even known Longmire was a book series or I had forgotten. Just finished and it was great. As far as a mystery goes it was okay, but the story was crafted very well and it Johnson really has a way with characters. Everyone felt different and well rounded. Walt’s friendships with each person felt real and how someone has different friends for different reasons. Harry Standing Bear was a stand out and I could listen to a story featuring only him. Walt is a no nonsense guy but has a whit about him that made me laugh out loud on more than a few occasions.

Historia
While on patrol one foggy March evening, Bowditch receives a call for help. A woman has reportedly struck a deer on a lonely coast road. When the game warden arrives on the scene, he finds blood in the road—but both the driver and the deer have vanished. And the state trooper assigned to the accident appears strangely unconcerned. The details of the disappearance seem eerily familiar. Seven years earlier, a jury convicted lobsterman Erland Jefferts of the rape and murder of a wealthy college student and sentenced him to life in prison.

Characters
Revisado: 02-29-24
Paul Doiron does it again. I loved The Poachers Son when I first read it and fell in love with the character of Mike Bowditch. He has taken that character and has began to add a cast around him. The cast of characters are great, well rounded and sympathetic. It’s easy to root for this stubborn hard-headed Park Ranger turned neo-noir detective. Flawed but guided by a sense of justice Mike Bowditch will stop at nothing to make sure justice is served. I wasn’t surprised by the revelation of who the killer was but I enjoyed the ride of getting there.

These are the dangerous people, the residents who infect others with their optimism. Their punishment is simple. They are given the very thing they want: They are allowed to go outside.

Loved this book
Revisado: 10-04-23
Performance was amazing and I have just found a new favorite author. Paul Tremblay manages to weave a tale that walks a line of real world fear of mental illnesses and a supernatural story. You never are fully confident you know what is happening.

Historia
On a brisk autumn day, a 13-year-old boy stands on the shores of the gray Atlantic, near a silent amusement park and a fading ocean resort called the Alhambra. The past has driven Jack Sawyer here: His father is gone, his mother is dying, and the world no longer makes sense. But for Jack everything is about to change. For he has been chosen to make a journey back across America - and into another realm. One of the most influential and heralded works of fantasy ever written, The Talisman is an extraordinary novel of loyalty, awakening, terror, and mystery.

Narrator is awful
Revisado: 07-14-21
After listening to all other Grady Hendrix books I was excited for this and even pre-ordered it. A look at my favorite genre of horror movies, the slasher. The story, like every other Grady Hendrix book, is AMAZING but this narrator was a disappointment. She made the main character sound like a spoiled brat who is supposed to be a hard grizzled former final girl, a la Lori Stroud in the newest Halloween, yet performed her as if she was a Mean Girls reject.
