This came in at the perfect time in my life. starting bjj in my 40s, and having just suffered a pretty stout injury in a competition I found myself undoing all the work I had done sewing myself into a better man. The hero in this book is unconventional and wise, calm and understanding. I hope to have the chance to grace his mats one day, his wisdom has calmed my seas and steered my ship back on its course.

growing up in the prairie I couldn't wait to get out. this book made me long for it. although I'm not super progressive in my views I appreciated the author, his passion and I left the book with a broader view.

I wanna run away..
Revisado: 06-26-23
one of the reviews I read was someone who was triggered over the authors yellow blazing. I admire the fact he was transparent, honest and unapologetic about his journey.
what I am mad about is now, when I'm alone I find myself talking to myself in Lemmys voice. Lemmy will forever be in my head, thanks for that.
seriously though, I ripped through this book enjoying every minute. it makes me take a long look at my daily grind and see faults within it. the authors struggles made it honest and pure bareing his soul for all too see.

Historia
Set in the spring, summer and fall of 1952, it's an entertaining and oft-hilarious coming-of-age tale told by an engaging 19-year-old New Jersey gas-station mechanic named Buddy Palumbo, whom several reviewers have likened to Holden Caulfield in Catcher in the Rye. Buddy's a true working-class hero whose mean-spirited, bullying father is a union shop steward at a big chemical plant in Newark, and he wants Buddy to work there, too. But Buddy hates the place, and really wants to hang around the corner gas station—Finzio's Sinclair in Passaic—and learn how to fix cars.

simply put, this book might have riuned all audio books for me forever, it was so enjoyable. the play format was amazing, I thought about the book all day while at work. subject manner was fun, it made you laugh, cry and want to drive your car in traffic like a asshole. I wish all of his other books were here too. I'll have to read them the old fashioned way.

Historia
Hailed as a masterpiece of American travel writing, Blue Highways is an unforgettable journey along our nation's backroads. William Least Heat-Moon set out with little more than the need to put home behind him and a sense of curiosity about "those little towns that get on the map-if they get on at all-only because some cartographer has a blank space to fill: Remote, Oregon; Simplicity, Virginia; New Freedom, Pennsylvania; New Hope, Tennessee; Why, Arizona; Whynot, Mississippi." His adventures, his discoveries, and his recollections of the extraordinary people he encountered along the way amount to a revelation of the true American experience.

Two Brits, George and Mark, set off from New York City to explore the back roads of America. In this calamity-ridden travel tale, George sets out in true clichéd fashion to discover the real America. Throw in plenty of run-ins with the police, rapidly dwindling finances, and Josephine - the worst car in the world - and you have all the ingredients for a classic American road trip. Will George and Mark make it all the way to California? And then there is Rachel, George's girlfriend, left back in England.
