Historia
“One morning, as Gregor Samsa was waking up from anxious dreams, he discovered that in bed he had been changed into a monstrous verminous bug.” With this startlingly bizarre sentence, Kafka begins his masterpiece, The Metamorphosis. It is the story of a young traveling salesman who, transformed overnight into a giant, beetle-like insect, becomes an object of disgrace to his family, an outsider in his own home, a quintessentially alienated man. Rather than being surprised at the transformation, the members of his family despise it as an impending burden upon themselves.

Great... but different (In a good way)
Revisado: 08-22-23
I would recommend this pretty strongly to just about anyone, the story is great and certainly worth experiencing at least once, and the performance does it justice.
That being said if I had to critique it I would say there isn't much of a "story" it is simply a description of interesting events. What I mean is that there is no clear arc or catharsis in the story, so if those are important to you, then I wouldn't recommend it. That being said I think as a contemporary reader where this type of narrative catharsis is universal its valuable and interesting to read something that isn't interested in catering to those sensibilities.

Historia
This is the story of an apparently young, amnesiac girl whose alarmingly unhuman needs and abilities lead her to a startling conclusion: She is in fact a genetically modified, 53-year-old vampire. Forced to discover what she can about her stolen former life, she must at the same time learn who wanted - and still wants - to destroy her and those she cares for and how she can save herself.

It's not a confortable read, but it's good.
Revisado: 10-30-22
If you read other reviews for this book, you probably know why it's contraversial, there is a character with a childlike body in adult situations. From my standpoint it's supposed to be a little gross to read to enforce the in-human nature of things, although I'm still a little torn about using this method.
Aside from that it's a pretty good book, some things aren't wrapped up as I would hope, and the plot itself isn't incredible. But the world building on display was a delight to read, I felt like the characters all had distinct lives, personalities, and histories.

I thought this would be seperate content since it's sold separately. It's not.
No reason to buy since it's included in book 12.

Masterfully building tension.
Revisado: 10-28-21
Coming from the 1st book the story might seem a little slow, and in comparison it is. This whole book is setting up the climax which as a reader you can guess much of from the early chapters.
But that is what makes it so good, every little action sends ripples that change how you anticipate the climax, and surely will impact later books into the series building anticipation with every moment!
