This audiobook really hooked me in right away - the format of the book was a great way to tell the story. I think this would be a great audiobook to listen to with one's children and then have a conversation about some of the issues the book raises.

King Arthur legend retold

While I still loved the first book "The Sword in the Stone" (4.5* for that one in this audiobook edition), each succeeding book was less enjoyable and the final book "The Book of Merlin" was just a vehicle for White to expound his own philosophical ideas about why men fight wars and how, if possible, to prevent it. I had never read this 5th book of the series (it wasn't in my old paperback edition of "The Once and Future King") and while I liked the return of Arthur's adventures in the animal world, Merlin and his 'council' were tedious.

Neville Jason does a great narration.

Would you try another book from James Fenimore Cooper and/or Larry McKeever?

I might try another book narrated by McKeever even though his voice was a bit soporific for me.

Has The Last of the Mohicans turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, I like historical fiction and adventure books.

This Recorded Books edition had chapter markers but they didn't bear any relation to the chapters of the text! This is annoying but I am guessing that is why this audiobook was so inexpensive...

not a good entry to the series

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would recommend this audiobook to a friend who was already a fan of the Drizzt series. But it doesn't work well as an introduction to the series.

Was Free: The Legend of Drizzt: The Collected Stories worth the listening time?

Yes, despite the fact that I found myself lost at the beginning of the stories, they managed to draw me in. The narration was very good also and I liked having a different person for each story.

Stilted translation

I was disappointed in the Payne translation. There are other and IMO better translations available in the public domain.

Also, it would have been nice to have had a warning or explanation that the first 30 minutes or so of this recording is NOT Aladdin but a completely different story!

While Masters did some very good voices & I loved her Scots accent in the final few tales, there were audible mouth sounds (mostly swallowing sounds) which I found off-putting.

Too gory for me

What was most disappointing about Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez ’s story?

I listened to the first ~15% of this, looking at Volume 1 of the graphic novel series. The art work was good, the narration is good, it is just too graphically violent for me.

Love in the Time of Cholera

Armando Duran was a marvelous choice of narrator for this audiobook. However, I think I might have had difficulty with the audiobook if I hadn't already read the book in print. Love in the Time of Cholera is more straightforward than One Hunderd Years of Solitude but Marquez still writes with complexity, switching from past to present and back.
